Autumn’s POV
I woke up in the now warm and stuffy basement. Sam and Mikey were making breakfast. When I had fully adjusted to everything, Mia saw me awake and started heading towards me.
“Hey, sleepy-head. I was starting to worry you had died in your sleep.” Mia laughed.
“Nope, I’m very much alive.” I replied.
“Good, ‘cause Sam cannot stop staring at you.” Mia said, nodding her head at a staring Sam.
“Nehh, he couldn’t possibly be staring at me...” I drifted off as Sam made his way over to us.
“Hey, uhh... Mia, do you mind helping Mikey? He kinda needs help.” Sam said blushing. Mia got up, winked at me, then left and sat with Mikey.
“So, uhh, morning! Did you sleep well?”
“Hey! Yeah, the ground is pretty comfortable, even with sharp rock jagging into the side of my hip...” Trying my best not to make a fool of myself. It seemed to work, sort of, Sam laughed and I giggled.
“So, uhh, you wanting something to eat?” He asked. I nodded with a big grin on my face.
Mikey’s POV
Mia started to walk towards me; she was so beautiful, now that she was cleaned up. Her brown hair, freshly brushed and bouncing as she walked, her bluey-greeny eyes gleeful and happy. She sat down beside me and stared behind her to Autumn and Sam.
I handed her a plate of food and a bottle of water. I shifted my now healing leg to a comfortable position and faced Mia.
“So, how long have you guys been down here for?” She asked, her bluey-greeny eyes lighting up with interest.
“Well... we’ve been here since the Detonations. When they told the world about their plan of “recreating” the planet by blowing everything up, I had the idea of stocking up, even though we had been granted a spot in the bunkers. We still stocked up, you know, for when something like this happens. Looks like it was a good idea!” I said, fairly proud of myself.
“Wow. It was a good idea –“
“Hey, can I get a plate of food and some water for Autumn?” Sam asked.
“Sure, here you go.” I said, handing Sam the food and water.
James’ POV
I walked outside for some fresh air, and to see what the world was like now. Still not used to going outside to find absolute ruins of my home, my town, my country, my planet.
I heard a noise, a sort of low buzzing noise coming from the sky. I looked up to find nothing but clouds. Looking around, confused and anxious of finding the source. Suddenly, a large metallic object emerged from the clouds and hovered above the broken houses.
