After Kelsie had explained the jacket to Tiffany, she finished up her work for the night and headed home. Calling Scott as soon as she got to her room.
"OK." She said as soon as he answered, flopping down on her bed. "Tell me why everybody is flipping out over this jacket please."
"Oh." He said, a bit taken aback. "They knew it was mine?"
"Oh yeah!" Kelsie said, rolling her eyes. "It seems to be a pretty famous jacket."
"I don't think it's famous, but I never let anybody have it. Girls ask for it a lot, but I never let them wear it. I guess it became a big deal." Scott seemed to be searching for the right words.
"Then why did you let me keep it?" Kelsie ask timidly. "You can have it back. I didn't mean to keep it."
"I don't really understand it myself." Scott said carefully, "but for some reason I really liked knowing you had it today. Like you couldn't help thinkin about me or something"
"Oh I thought about you! That's for sure!" Kelsie said. "I met Tina today."
"Tina?" Scott asked.
"Umm yeah." Kelsie said, not sure if she should be relieved or disgusted that he didn't know the name right away. "Red hair, green eyes, knows you.... Intimately...."
"Oh that Tina." He said as he pieced it together. "I didn't know she went to Flower Mound."
"You're kidding me!" Kelsie said, deciding that disgust was the emotion she needed after all. "This girl knows everything about you down to any birth marks you might have on your rear end and you don't know what high school she goes to?"
"Look Kelsie" Scott said sounding irritated. "You know I'm not a boy scout. I had girls that I hung out with and did stuff. They knew it wasn't gonna be anything and so did I. It's not like I lied or lead them on. Tina was one of those girls. We made out a few times. That's it. It wasn't anything special and I don't know what she told you, but we never had sex."
"I'm sorry." Kelsie said in a very small voice. "I didn't mean to make it sound like I was getting onto you or something. It's none of my business anyway. It's not like...."
"No!! Now wait a second!" Scott said. "I never said it wasn't your business. Who I've been with is absolutely your business. I just wanted to make it clear that just because I made out with a girl, well that doesn't mean we had sex."
"It's OK!" Kelsie said. "I knew your reputation from the beginning Scott. I saw the harem. Hell I've been to the Bon fires."
"Most of my reputation is exaggerated." Scott said with a sigh. "When I get high I get.........cuddly. So I'd take girls and go make out, but usually just kissing and stuff. Sex comes with complications I didn't want to deal with most of the time."
"Oh." Kelsie said, and thought, 'so is that why he hasn't kissed me? Because it'd cause complications?' But aloud she said, "So ummm you only deal with girls that you know won't cause you stress?"
Scott made a frustrated growly sound and said, "honestly Kels, up until now I didn't deal with girls at all. I played with them. I wasn't unfair. Everybody knew going in that it was just for fun. Nobody thought it would be more. I tried to stay clear of the girls who might ask for more."
"I understand all of that." Kelsie said assuming that this was Scott's way of being kind and warning her before she got attached. "I knew all of this from the beginning. I'm not trying to lock you into some big commitment."
"I wasn't talking about you Kelsie!" Scott said. He seemed to be getting angry now. "God!!! I'm getting this all wrong!"
"I'm sorry." Kelsie said, because she was. "I didn't mean to make you mad. I'm really sorry OK?"
