Kelsie took the strip to get home. Hoping to see Kelly. She found her quickly and before she was even stopped, Kelly jumped in the car and said, "so.... Are we official?" And Kelsie said, "yeah" and smiled. Then Kelly said, "tell me everything" So Kelsie did and Kelly's mouth flew open as Kelsie talked.

"You moved on him?" She said the shock clear in her voice.
"You did it in a truck?" She said next. "Who the hell are you?"

"You do it in the truck all the time !" Kelsie laughed.

"Yeah! But that's me!" Kelly said grinning. "I'm a pervert."

"I can easily see me becoming a pervert." Kelsie said laughing.

"That good huh?" Kelly ask grinning

"Yes!!!" Kelsie said. Then added, "Well after the first part." and told Kelly about her uncomfortable moment.

"It hurt?" Kelly ask, "really?"

"Yeah. I can't figure it out." Kelsie said. "My first time didn't hurt at all."

Kelly began to laugh then and continued to laugh until tears where streaming down her face.

"OK Kelsie." Kelly said, taking a deep breath. "It's a size issue."

Kelsie looked confused so she went on.
"You know those big fat pencils we used in first grade?" Kelly explained all about the difference in size. Using so many different examples that Kelsie couldn't stop laughing.

"You have to stop!!!!" Kelsie said finally. "I'll never be able to eat a hoagie or a hot dog again!!"

Kelly was still laughing when she skipped over to her boyfriends truck and drove away.

Kelsie had put the car in gear and was backing up when Darren opened the door and got in. "I need to talk to you."

Kelsie looked around the lot and realized she had no one. No Scott. No Eric. None of Scott's friends.

She was screwed.

"Get out Darren". She said. "I've got to go home."

"To call Bruner?" Darren ask.

"To make curfew!" Kelsie said. "GET OUT!"

"OK. OK!" Darren held up his hands and Kelsie looked at him for the first time.

"Oh. I guess Eric went back." She said. Eyeing the bruising on his face.

"Yeah." Darren said looking sheepish. "I probably deserved it though. How bad is your arm," he ask as he reached across for her hand and Kelsie sunk back into the seat.

"Don't touch me!" She said with venom in her voice. "It's bad enough I don't want Scott to see it. It's not bad enough for me to tell my uncles to kill you."

"I didn't mean to hurt you Kelsie." Darren said miserably. "I'd never hurt you. You know that."

Kelsie chuckled darkly, "Darren, this bruise is the least of what you've done to hurt me." She said, pulling back her sweater sleeve to show him the dark purplish hand print. "But it's over now. You won't hurt me again."

When Kelsie turned to tell him again to get out of her car, she found Darren looking at her hand. "Did your folks buy you a new ring for Christmas?" He asked, looking kind of ill.

"No." Kelsie said in a clipped tone. "It's a promise ring. Scott and I are going together now."

"Seriously?" Darren looked angry and Kelsie reached for her door handle ready to jump out of the car. "He didn't give you his class ring? Just that little thing?"
