The four of them sat down at the only occupied table in the cafe - Karen and Paige sat on one side and Ben and Robin took the other side. The two brides needed to talk to each other about the fact that they knew about each other's 'Honours' a long time before. There had to be a reason that they hadn't talked about their best friends to each other and not mention what had happened to them on the flight that they described as the "the best flight of their lives".
"So how did you two meet?" Ben asked, being the first to start the conversation.
"We-" Karen started but was interrupted by Paige.
"I think we should tell him about the Honours first."
"Oh, that's true."
"What honour?" He asked, his eyebrows knitting together.
"Ben," Karen started as she took his hand in hers. "Will you be my Best Man?"
"It would be my honour." His eyes widened as he realised what the two brides meant by the word 'honours'. "Oh!"
"Since I am the Maid of Honour and you are the Best Man," Robin started to explain. "We are called 'Honours'. It's a clever and unique way of them telling us that they love us."
"Exactly." Paige said, clicking her fingers together as she pointed to Robin.
"That's brilliant!" Ben exclaimed. "So now can I ask how you two met?" He asked and when Karen and Paige shared a look, he glanced at Robin, who was sitting next to him. "Do you know?" He whispered and she shook her head in response.
"We met a few years back."
Robin and Ben had a similar look on their face when Karen said 'a few years.' "Wait, so...." Ben started, confusion spreading across his face. "How long have you been dating each other?"
"Two years," Paige revealed.
Robin's mouth fell open as she realised how long she was kept in the shadows. She knew Paige longer than that and yet, she had never known that her agent had been dating someone. "So you have been keeping the fact that you were dating from me for-"
"Two years!" Ben finished, feeling the same emotion. Karen was his childhood friend. They had studied together in school and when they got into the same professional field, they knew it was meant to be. They knew a lot about each other's personal life but there had to be a reason that Karen had hid this from him.
"Two years!" Robin stressed.
"Are you angry with us?" Paige asked. The atmosphere grew tense as the two friends had a tough staring contest for a short period of time.
Robin turned to look at Ben the same time that he did and they broke out laughing. "We're messing with you!" Robin revealed. "Right?" She asked him because she was joking and wasn't sure if he was as well.
"Definitely!" He held his chest as he tried to control his laughter.
Karen and Paige looked extorted but they understood why the other two did what they did. "You got us" Paige said.
"Very badly, I might add." Karen let out a breath of relief.
"Sorry." Robin zipped her mouth but a smirk spread across her face.
"It was totally worth it." said Ben, sitting up straight. "Coming back to the questions." He clapped his hands together. "So where did you meet each other?"
"It was at the-" Karen turned to face Paige.
"Annual Manager's Assembly." She finished her sentence.
