Chapter 14: New Investor!

Cailey's POV

''So what are you planning now? I mean do you even have any plan?'' Mindy asked as she picked some apples.

''I planned to get the hell away from him, but I don't think I can do that..'' I answered honestly. ''And you know what I mean..''

She shrugged. Russell would likely do whatever he wants and it's not that I have other choice but to bear with it. He might act like a cold man in front of everyone but he was also a one hell of a stubborn. And I don't have any idea what was going on in his mind. He was the one who forced me to sign that shit divorce and now he was trapping me again, saying that he wanted me back.

''Wait, Cailey. If he wanted you back, then play with it''

I sighed of the thought, it was easy to say but is so hard to do. Knowing Russell, he would not even bat an eye to hear me out.

''It's not that easy, Mindy!''

''Why not? It's payback time! You can't let him play with your feelings again and again. Let him taste his medicine!''

I already thought about that but as I come across Russell, I don't think I can do that. My other choice is to keep my distance from him. 

''Why? are you afraid that you'll fall for him again?'' Mindy asked meaningfully.

"No. I am just keeping myself safe. You already know what kind of person Russell is." I answered.

Mindy seated beside me, folding her arms.

"Still, I think you should play with it. Whoever wins gets to laugh at the end. It's your chance! Let him feel what it feels like to be treated cold!"

Before I could even talk back my phone rings. It was a message from Mr. A.

"Hmm. Who's Mr. A? Do you have new admirer? Come on tell me!!" Mindy asked excitedly.

"It's Mr. Aiden. Our boss. Lately he kept on calling me, asking me stuffs."

"Oh my goodness! Does he have something for you?! Wait!! He likes you! Is it?!"

"No!" I answered quickly. "I think he was just being friendly. That's all!"

"Friendly my ass!' Mindy scoffed. "I know you know that he wasn't! Haven't you observed that he was more distant with the other employees except for you?! Woman! Get the hint!"

I stood up and walked to the living room.

"Stop being malicious, Mindy! It's not like that!" I said

Mindy followed me and stood beside me again. Teasing me.

"Mr. Aiden has something for you! I'm sure of it. Because if he doesn't? What's with all the calls? The stares? The care? Woman! I was observing him! And whenever he got the chance, he would look at you and smile!" She hysterically said "Stop being dense! I know you do still have problems with Russell. But don't shut yourself in. Enjoy yourself!"

"I can do that Mindy, but I'm not going to use Mr. Aiden." I answered firmly.

Mindy rolled her eyes and grabbed my shoulders, looking straight to me.

"Damn! You are not using him! Why don't you give him a chance?"

I scoffed at Mindy and pushed her a bit but it wasn't able to let her off of me "What chance? Did he ever said he likes me? Stop getting too much ahead, Mindy. I'm telling you, it wasn't like that."

"Then what would you do if it was like that? Huh? Tell me then!" She asked and let go of me.

I was left speechless. Come to think of it.

The 'if'. What if? What will I do if that was the case? Oh geez! I was just hoping it wasn't. I don't think I can let myself to be in a relationship again after what happened with Russell. Aside from it, I am not divorced. I am still a married woman!

"Let's just forget about that, Mindy. Okay? I'm not in the mood to talk about relationships. I'm tired!"

Mindy sighed.

I went to my room and looked at my phone to see what was sent to me from Mr. Aiden.

'Do you have time? Can you come to my office now? It's urgent.'

"Is there a problem in the company?" I asked myself.

'Give me 30 minutes, Sir.' I texted back.

I received his 'okay, I'll wait' and then got up and changed.

Mindy asked where I was going. But I told her I'm going somewhere. I didn't bother to tell her I was heading to the company. I'm sure she'll just nag me about her speculations.

Looking at the company building, I sighed. Here I am thinking I can have my rest say but I was summoned to get here. It was supposed to be my day off.

I tucked my hair behind my ears and went inside the building. I headed immediately to the elevator and pressed 12th floor. When I reached the floor I immediately walked to his office and knocked at his office door.

I heard his voice saying to come in and I pushed the door open. I was about to greet him when I saw a familiar figure standing in front of Mr. Aiden's table.

I stopped my tracks and was confused.

"Ms. Soren you're already here. Come have a seat."

The familiar figure slowly turned his face on me, his face grim, his hands on his pocket and stared at me.

I breathed heavily. Why do I feel like I'm about to have a bad days coming ahead? Tell me it wasn't right!

"I want you to meet Mr. Russell Gabinson, our new investor" Mr. Aiden said with a smile on his face.

I knew my working days would be so much hell!
