All In

The whole drive home I couldn't stop looking at the ring and how gorgeous it was. It fit me perfectly. I held my hand out in front of me while I waited for Kobe to pick up the phone, finally he did.

Yooooo! Sup lil girl?" Kobe answered.

"Lil girl my ass," I laughed, "I'm ENGAGED!!"

"Word?? Wow I'm so happy for you Ky! That's beautiful, you already know ya'll 'bout to get mad wedding gifts from me," Kobe said, "Put me on speaker real quick?"

"You don't gotta do the most bro," I said putting him on speakerphone.

"Oh you better believe I'm 'bout to do the absolute most," Kobe laughed, "Can Darryn hear me?"

"I hear you man," Darryn said smiling out at the road.

"Congrats on wifing big sis! She deserves the world and I'm so glad she found somebody to give it to her. Thanks for giving my sister back her smile, you have all my respect and I'm proud to call you my brother-in-law," said Kobe.

"I appreciate you, dude. I'm happy to be part of the family."

"Bet. Well Ima let y'all go I got some things to do, fill me in on the wedding date when you pick it," Kobe urged.

"Of course, you're probably gonna have to walk me down the aisle because I doubt mom and dad'll come," I said bumming out a little.

"Whatever you need, Ky, I gotchu. I love you, okay?"

"I love you too," I replied before we hung up.

I gasped.

"What's wrong?" Darryn asked me slowing down the car.

"I haven't even met your parents," I said scooting closer in the seat to him, "Don't you think we shoulda did that first? What if they don't like me?"

"They'll love you, KD. It'll be a surprise, especially for Mom. You know how long she been asking when was I gonna settle down?"

"We need to tell them. Like, now babe," I said.

Darryn sighed and grabbed his phone from the console, dialing his parents' number. We sat for the longest waiting for an answer before we got one.

"Hey ma! Glad you picked up," Darryn said. "Yeah I miss ya'll too but hey, I got something to tell you."

I leaned closer

"I been seeing this girl for a minute, her name's Kyra...Yeah ma she pretty," he laughed. "Anyways look, I proposed to her tonight and she said yes!"

I heard his mom shout in excitement, he pulled the phone away from his ear and made a face. I started laughing

"Is that her?" I heard her ask.

"Yes mama, you wanna speak to her?" Darryn asked looking over at me, my stomach started to flip, I put my ear closer to the phone.

"No I don't wanna talk to her on the phone son. Bring her here! I wanna meet her!"

"Ah'ight ma ah'ight, we'll be over soon. I love you," Darryn said, then hung up.

I started wringing my hands together, something I did when I was nervous. "God I'm gonna be a wreck!"

"Chill out baby you don't got no reason to be nervous," Darryn said gently smoothing my fly away hairs down with his free hand. "Everybody seemed excited to see you, I heard pops say in the background he was ready to meet you too."

"That's great to know," I said.

Darryn laughed at me, "Girl you sweating, stop it," he said patting at my forehead, "C'mon, you got this."
