I Get Around

We were in the produce section picking up some stuff at Walmart when a tall light-skinned lady walked up to us.

"DJ?" She said when she saw him.

"I know you?" he asked her, pulling me to him by the waist.

"It's me! Melissa Williams!" The girl said as she held out her arms like she was waiting for an embrace.

Darryn gave her a weird stare like he really didn't know. I looked up at him waiting for him to answer her.

"You don't remember me?" She asked. "Boy we grew up together! Here, wait," Melissa reached in her purse and pulled out a pair of glasses, putting them on.

"Ohh shit! Hey girl what's been goin' on?! I ain't even recognize you, it's been years!" Darryn said letting go of me and giving her the hug she walked up for.

I reached up and slapped the back of his neck when I felt like they hugged for too long.

"Oh this is my lady, Kyra," he said wrapping his arm back around me and leaning down to kiss the top of my head.

"Hello, Kyra. Sorry if I was outta line," she smiled at me and took the glasses off, extending her hand to shake.

"Uh-huh," I said shaking her hand and throwing her a shady smile.

Melissa was supermodel pretty. She was tall and slim and wore a tan halter top with low rise jeans and heels. Light, bright damn near white with greenish eyes and her long dark hair fixed nice with a bang. Her lips were full and pink and her long nails were manicured to perfection. I couldn't help but notice how iced out in jewelry she was.

"Yeah me and Mel used to be real tight. She was like my little sis back then. She a singer too, I helped produce her first single," Darryn said.

"Ohhh, Mr. "Producer"? I'm just learning more about you every day, huh." I said getting closer to him.

Melissa looked at me funny like she still felt bad for their hug. "I'm here with my boyfriend, we just got together two months ago. He's around here somewheeere," She said looking around then over our shoulders.

"Oh! There he is! Baby! Come here lemme introduce you to my old friend!" She hollered waving her hands.

Damn, loud ass. I scratched at the inside of my ear when her high voice tickled it.

Darryn and me turned around, surprised to see Kobe coming towards us.

"Hey Ky! Sup, Darryn," Kobe said. "I see you've met my girlfriend," he leaned down and gave Melissa a kiss.

"You know them already?" she asked Kobe.

"Yeeaaah, I'm Kobe's big sister and I'm wondering why he never told me about yooouu," I said playfully pinching his arm.

"Ouch girl! I was planning on waiting a little bit you know how I am, when was ya'll ever friends though?" He asked.

"DJ is the old friend!" Melissa said pointing at him.

"Ohh okay that's tight. Kyra already introduced us, they came and picked me up from the airport the day you were working," Kobe explained to her.

"Well isn't this cool!" Melissa said excitedly, "We should have them over for dinner tonight babe," Melissa said tugging at Kobe's shirt like a little kid.

Kobe rubbed at the back of his neck and I could tell she was about to get on his nerves. I giggled to myself.

"I think he wants it to be just you guys tonight," I said winking at Melissa, "Knowing my brother he probably has something special planned for ya. We don't wanna be in the way."

Kobe gave me a quick thumbs up.

"Yeah, Mel, we'll catch ya'll some other time, I actually got some plans for me and KD later on," Darryn said lifting my chin up and kissing me.

"Ewww," Kobe said playfully, wrapping his arm around Melissa's waist.

"Grown folk shit, you wouldn't know anyways," I teased at Kobe.

Kobe made a face at me, "Psh, girl please, that's what you think! You better let her know, Mel," Kobe said wrapping his arms around her from behind.

She giggled, I faked a gag.

"Come on baby let's go pay for this stuff so we can get back, I know Ceaz probably on Shonda's last nerve," I said pulling Darryn away, "Love you bro, nice meeting you Melissa," I said waving at them.

"Yeah bye you two, real nice seeing you again Mel," Darryn said pushing the shopping cart.

When we finished and got back to the house and all the lights were out.

"Damn it's not even that late, Darryn said, flipping the switch with his handful of groceries.

"Maybe they went out or something," I suggested carrying my load of groceries to the kitchen counter and sitting them there.

Darryn sat his on the couch, "Yeeaah I don't think so KD..."

"Darryn what you doin'? Bring the stuff over here baby," I said putting a carton of eggs and some juice in the fridge.

Darryn busted out laughing, "KD look!"

"What?" I turned to the living room where Darryn was. He was holding up a bra and a pair of boxers.

I covered my mouth to keep from laughing out loud, "Ooooo."

"Where's the baby though?" Darryn said looking around.

I shrugged and went to look in our room to check, he wasn't in there so I checked Shaun's room. The baby was in the bed fast asleep, surrounded by a bunch of pillows and stuff.

I tiptoed back in the kitchen, "He's in Shaun's room sleeping."

Darryn grinned and went towards the hallway.

"Where you goin'?" I asked following him.

He went up to Ceaz's door and pressed his ear against it, "I don't hear nothin'."

"It's probably a misunderstanding then," I said quietly, turning away.

"Naaah," Darryn whispered, opening the door and peeking in.

"Shut that door!" I whispered to him clenching my teeth.

He held back a laugh and motioned for me to come there, "Peep!" He whispered to me.

Of course my nosey ass was gonna go see. I went next to him and peeked in too.

Shonda and Ceaz were cuddled up in the bed, stark naked and asleep.

Darryn shut the door back carefully and pushed me back up the hallway as we laughed.

"Shhh, we don't want em to know we saw," I said holding my stomach and falling onto the couch.

"Shit they gonna know we know! Got their draws and shit laying all on the floor in here," Darryn laughed, "Lemme pick this up before Shaun see it and go off," he said picking up the undergarments with his index and thumb.

"Where you gonna put it?" I asked, getting up and putting away the rest of the groceries from the counter.

Darryn went straight to Ceaz's room again, opening the door and throwing them in on the floor before shutting it back.

"You crazy." I said giggling, "Put the rest of that stuff up."

After Darryn got everything put away he came and sat down beside me. "I was gonna whip up that seafood and stuff so we could have us a little dinner and then do some thangs but I think I'll wait til I can find a way to kick everybody out."

"Where are Shonda and the baby gonna go?" I asked.

"Since her and Ceaz done got got "comfortable" it won't hurt em to go over to his mama's house for a couple hours," Darryn said.

I nodded, "Yeah you're right."

"We can do that tomorrow though KD, I'm sleepy as hell," he said stretching.

"Yeah me too, it's only eight o'clock and I'm ready to knockout."

"Let's go to bed Kay," Darryn said standing to his feet. I got up too and we went to lay down for the night.
