"I don't want surgery, I have to get to work. I can't miss a whole day." The patient said as he took the IV and wires off of himself

Instead of stopping him Derek let him, he knew he would most likely die if he had left so he let him.

"Mr. Davis you do realize you're leaving against medical advice and if you leave you'll probably bleed into your brain and die. Think about how much work you'd be missing then." Derek said as he crossed his arms and stood in front of him.

"Fine, how long is the recovery?" He asked as he sat back in bed

Derek ignored him and glanced at him as he grabbed his chart before leaving.

"Put his IV back in and prep an O.R."

"Of course." Bailey responded

Derek walked into Meredith's room and filled out a chart while he waited with her. She wasn't intubated anymore but she still hadn't woken up. Cristina wasn't there so he decided to stay. He sat in the chair and wrote down some notes in a chart, Cristina was outside of the room and stopped when she saw Derek in there. She was about to leave when she heard the monitors beeping and saw that Meredith had started crashing.

Derek heard the monitors beep and he quickly looked up and called a code blue. Cristina heard the code and ran in and nurses followed with a crash cart. Derek's heart raced as they shocked Meredith twice and waited for a rhythm.

"Come on, Come on, Come on!" Cristina whispered as they continued CPR and waited for a rhythm.

Derek was extremely nervous and scared, he heard the monitors beep and he saw that her rhythm was normal again. Both him and Cristina sighed in relief as they took the crash cat out and lifted her bed back up. Derek stroked her hair with one hand and leaned against the rails of her hospital bed with the other. He saw her eyelids move and her eyebrows move, before he could process any of it he saw her beautiful and bright green eyes staring at him. She looked over at Cristina and she looked extremely confused.

"Did... I travel back in time or something?" Meredith asked as she looked around.

"Not necessarily." Cristina said as a tear ran down her cheek.

Derek left and let Meredith and Cristina catch up, he walked to day care to look for Mia. He walked in and saw Mia playing with another kid, he walked in and sat next to her.

"Do you want to go see your mom?" Derek asked

"Really?! Yeah!" Mia said as she jumped into Derek's arms.

Derek held her tightly and grabbed her hand as he stood up and walked out of daycare with her. He walked through the halls and saw Cristina still in there so he walked around for a bit. He walked into Meredith's room with Mia and Mia immediately let go of his hand and ran into the room.

"Mommy!" Mia yelled as she ran up to Meredith's bed

"Mia! You're okay" Meredith said as she hugged Mia tightly.

"I was scared" Mia whispered as she wrapped her hands around her mother

"I know, I'm okay now. I love you." Meredith said as she closed her eyes.

She loved Mia more than she loved herself, the thought of never being able to hug her again terrified Meredith. She held Mia close and never wanted to let go, she felt calm with Mia in her arms. Mia didn't ever want to let go of her mom. She didn't know anyone here and she was all alone the whole time her mom was recovering from surgery.

Derek stood in the doorway and watched Meredith hold Mia in her arms. He couldn't believe how happy they made each other, he was happy that Meredith was happy and well. He left the room and went to fill out some charts at the nurses station.
