Mia and Derek had just arrived at the park and Derek walked over to Mia's car seat and unbuckled her. He lifted her up and set her down as she held his hand, they both walked to the swings as Mia jumped onto the baby swing.

Meredith was vacuuming the living room carpet while they were gone. She didn't feel good so she told Derek she would stay and clean up. She reached down to pick up a napkin and her abdomen started hurting again. This time it was stronger, she held her arms across her stomach and then the pain for worse and worse. She walked over to the kitchen to call for help but she started getting dizzy and light headed. She grabbed her phone and tried calling anyone but she collapsed before she could say anything.

Derek pushed Mia on the swings as she giggled. Mia looked about 2 and a half and Meredith left Seattle 3 almost 4 years ago. Mia was too young to be Derek's daughter so he never thought that Mia was his. He wanted to help Meredith and Mia was Meredith's daughter so he helped Mia and Meredith. Mia got off the swing by herself and ran over to play with some other kids. His phone started ringing so he sat down on one of the benches to answer it.

"Meredith? What's up?" He asked as he watched Mia run around the sand pit.

There was no response for a while so he thought it might have been a butt-dial. Before he could say anything he saw Mia fall from the playground so he ran over to her.

"Mia are you okay?" He asked as he picked her up while she was crying.

She had a cut on her knee from the smaller rocks near the sidewalk so he took her into his car and tried to rinse it with water. She cried louder so he took her to the hospital to get a couple stitches.

On his way there he called Meredith again to let her know what happened but she didn't answer. She did say she was going to clean up so she probably had music on or couldn't hear the phone.

He texted her letting her know where he was going and then put his phone in his pocket. He parked and carried her into the pit where Izzie walked over to them.

"Hey Mia, what happened?" Izzie asked as she put gloves on

"I fell" Mia sniffled

"Where's Mer?" Izzie asked as she cleaned Mia's knee

"She's at the house, I called her but she didn't answer." Derek said as he pulled his phone out again

"You're going to need a couple of stitches but it'll only hurt a bit okay?" Izzie asked as Mia nodded

"Come on Mer pick up" Derek whispered to himself as he called her once again

"I'm sure they have a couple papers for you to fill out before Meredith gets here, Derek." Izzie said seeing him get worried

"Yeah, okay I'll do that." Derek responded as he walked over to the nurses station

He asked for Mia's information so he could fill out paperwork before Meredith got here. The nurse printed out her information they got from the car crash when she hurt her head.

While reading over it and he got to her birthday. Her birthday was March 17. He stared at the paper until he realized that was 10 months after Meredith left. They broke up a week before he chose Addison so she wasn't with anyone else at the time. A million thought were rushing in his head and his heart started racing. Mia was his daughter, he didn't know and he missed her whole life. He had a daughter with Meredith, the woman he loved but he didn't know until now. His heart was beating so fast he thought it was about to explode in his chest. Oh god, he had never asked Meredith about Mia and she had never told him. He had to know the truth and he had to hear it from her.

He got up and tried calling her again but there was no answer. He grew angry and frustrated at the fact that Meredith had kept this all from him and he had missed his daughter's life. She didn't answer any of his calls so he walked over to Izzie and Mia.

"Meredith isn't answering so I'm gonna go get her." Derek said as an excuse to go talk to her

He got into his car and drove to Meredith's house. The living room and kitchen lights were still on and he peeked inside again before knocking. There was still no response so he thought she might have left and forgot her phone. He called her again and listened for the ringing, a few seconds later he heard ringing from the kitchen but Meredith didn't come downstairs or walk to the kitchen.

He quickly ran to her parking spot and saw that her car was still in its spot and hadn't moved since he left. He knocked harder and harder and shouted her name until he decided to break the glass around the door knob and unlock the door.

He grabbed a brick from the sidewalk that was covered in dirt and threw it through the glass. The glass broke but not enough for him to fit his hand in so he used the brick to break the glass more. He reached in and unlocked the door and ran inside.

Meredith wasn't in the living room or the bathroom so he ran to the stairs. He passed the kitchen and saw her unconscious on the floor with her phone in her hand.

"Meredith!" He yelled

He ran over to her and looked for a pulse, she had a weak pulse and was barely breathing. He should've came home when she didn't answer the first time, he kept blaming himself for not coming home or checking on her.

He called an ambulance and waited for it to arrive. He was trying not to cry and not to panic. He kept looking over at the clock and waiting, his heart broke when he saw Meredith looking lifeless on the ground so he tried to look everywhere else.

His phone rang so he looked down to answer it but the paramedics walked through the door before he could check who it was. They carried her out ok a gurney and he got in the ambulance with them, they found that she was bleeding into her abdomen and it had slowly been bleeding over time.

They got to Seattle Grace and Derek was forced to wait outside. He was stopped by Izzie as he walked over to the trauma bay room.

"Derek, what the hell happened?" Izzie asked as she looked through the window at Meredith

"I-I went home to find her and... she was on the floor, I don't know what happened." Derek said with a knot forming in his stomach

"Oh my god" Izzie whispered to herself

Mia was still sitting on a bed waiting for Izzie so she got up and walked next to them. She looked at what they were staring at and saw her mom in the room.

"What happened? Is my mom gonna be okay?" Mia asked as Derek and Izzie looked at her and then looked at each other.

"Come on Mia let's go get you a band aid okay?" Izzie said as she took Mia's hand and walked away.

Derek turned back to the trauma room and continued watching, Bailey saw him and walked out.

"They're taking her up to the O.R." She told him while he continued to stare into the room

"Derek, she'll be fine." Bailey said putting her hand on his shoulder

Derek looked over at her and nodded, they started taking Meredith to the O.R. and Richard walked up to him and Bailey.

"There were some complications from the ex-lap we did and she had an abdominal bleed. We'll fix it and she'll be fine." Richard said then walked into the elevator

Derek sat down in the waiting area and was soon joined by Mia. She sat down in the seat next to him and rested her head on his shoulder.
