School starts back up again soon, which means Gerard will be leaving. He applied, and got excepted and everything and he seemed excited. I was happy for him.
~Patrick's POV~
Homecoming was coming up, I had asked girls before but eminently got turned down. Of course. Why would they say 'yes'? I would ask myself why they turned me down , every singles time, and was reminded again ever time I looked in the mirror.I wanted to ask Dawn. I really liked her, but I was afraid that she'd say no. I thought of a bunch of different ways to ask her. It was two weeks away, so I had some time.
I sat on Pete's bed, looking down at my hands as I twiddled my thumbs. "Hey, Pete?" I said.
"Yup." He replied, looking over at me.
"Do you think she'll say yes?" I asked, not looking up from my hands.
"Of course." He assured me. I looked up with an unsure expression.
"Why would you say that?"
"Why wouldn't she!?" He asked with a smile, patting my back.
"I can give you lots of reasons, Pete." I said, falling back onto the soft bed.
"Oh, come on, 'Trick." He said with a sigh. "Look, don't worry, okay? And if she says no, then you can always just go with me." He pointed to himself as he said 'me'.
I breathed a laugh. "Thanks, Pete."

*Knock knock*
I stuffed my hands in my pockets and waited for the door to be answered. And soon enough, Mrs. Way greeted me with a smile.
"Hello, Patrick." She said, stepping aside to let me in.
"Hello, ma'am." I replied. "Is Dawn home?"
"Yes, she's out back." She gestured to a door in the dining room. "Go on out, if you want."
"Thank you."
She excited the room and I walked through the dining room. It was a nice house, clean and neat, and the colors and the walls went well with everything. I pulled the glass door open and stepped out, shutting it behind me.
I looked on either side of the door, looking around the yard for Dawn. The grass was green and there were beautiful flowers. I looked over to to the garden, by the roses. There were bright red ones, darker red one, yellow, and pink ones. And over my them, sat a girl with dark hair, a blue just above knee-length skirt and long socks, with a plain white tee shirt on. Her skin was somewhat pale.
"Hi, Dawn." I said with a smile, walking over to her through the green grass that had little yellow flowers growing in it, scattered around here and there.
"Hi, P-Patrick." She replied, looking up at me. I sat beside her on the little stone wall that separated the garden from the grass.
I met her gaze. Her bright eyes were beautiful, her hair gently blew in the soft breeze. I really liked her.
"How're you doing?" I asked her.
"O-okay." She replied. I looked down at her, there was a small burn mark on her upper arm that caught my attention. It was faded a bit, but I could still see the dark-red color that was dryer than the skin around it. I eminently felt worried. I didn't want anyone to hurt her, and it was horrible that her parents did. And I figured that the burn was from them.
"Uh, Dawn?" I asked, hesitantly. "If you don't mind me asking, what happened?" I gestured to the burn.
She looked over at her arm. "Oh. It..... My d-dad." She replied. I nodded.
