I panicked.

I didn't know what to do, so I pulled away.

Patrick looked at me and I at him, both of us frozen for a moment. "I am so sorry, Dawn, I..... I'm so sorry." He apologized. "I am such an idiot." He covered his face with his hands.

I  didn't know what to do besides walked away, so I did. I needed space.

~Patrick's POV~

Dawn walked away, going to the other side of the room. I put the heel of my hands over my eyes as Pete approached me.

"What's up, Pat?" He asked.

"Ah, man, I screwed up, Pete." I replied.

"What did you do?"

"I kissed her."

He whistled. "Damn."

"I..... Ah, what am I gonna do, Pete!" I said.

"Dude, calm down, it's gonna be okay." Pete assured me, patting my back.

"I have to go talk to her." I said, he nodded and I walked off in the direction she went in - out of the gym.

I pushed the doors open and walked into the quiet hallway. I looked around, looking for her. I decide to go look by our lockers, and sure enough, she's sitting there on a bench by them. I just stood there for a moment, looking at her. Her hands were folded on her lap and her gaze was lowered.

She looked so beautiful.

I swallowed and walked over, sitting on the bench beside her, leaving a good amount of space between us. She didn't react to me sitting down.

"Uh...." I said. "Dawn, look, I.... I'm so sorry."

I sighed.

"It's okay." She said to me, not looking up.

"I just..... I really like you, Dawn." I admitted.

She met my gaze and gave a puzzled look. "What?" She asked.

"I really l-like you."

"W-why?" She asked.

The room fell silent and she just looked at me, and I at her. I felt bad for her, no one's told her that before, probably. And I can't see why no one likes her. She's amazing.

"Because you're..... So amazing." I finally said. I had been wanted to say that to her for a while now. "You're sweet and beautiful and wonderful and I really like you."

"But..... But, I'm..... I'm not." She replied, lowering her gaze.

I gently lifted her chin up and looked into her eyes. "Yes, you are." I assured her.

Tears flooded her eyes and she threw herself into me, I wrapped my arms around her.  She's so fragile and insecure. She didn't think she was pretty or anything, but she's beautiful. I stroked her back and after a moment, she pulled away.

"Thank you, Patrick." She said to me. "It..... It means a lot that y-you'd say t-that about m-me." She stuttered.

"Do you.... Feel the same way?" I asked, nervously.

She looked off in the distance, out the window. "I dunno." She said, quietly.

"I mean, it's okay if... If you don't."
