~Gerard's POV~

"We might be able to take them to court." Mom said to me, she was sat with her magazine at the table and I was standing in the kitchen.

"When?" I asked as I put one of the crackers that I was eating in my mouth.

She sighed. "I'll have to see." She replied with a shrug. "If they're abusive then it shouldn't be too hard."

"They are." I added. The room fell silent and I lowered my gaze to the ground on front of me. I played with the cracker in my hand as I stood there. I was so worried. They hurt her. She had bruises on her small arms from him.

"Gerard." Mom broke the silence with. I looked up and met her gaze. "Are you okay?"

"I'm really worried about her, mom." I replied, leaning back a bit, resting against the counter "I told you, they hurt her, she had bruises on her arm."

"I know, honey, we'll work something out."

"When?"

"As soon as we can."

I sighed and excited the kitchen. "Is it okay if I head over to Frank's?" I asked.

"Sure thing, honey." She replied, flipping through her magazine.

"Thanks." I added, placing my hand on the door knob and pulled the door open, stepping out into the fresh Summer air and shutting the door behind me. Frank lived a few blocks down, I stuffed my hands in my pockets as I walked along the sidewalk.

Poor Dawn. She was so fragile and they were breaking her even more. Why would anyone want to hurt her?

"He...... He hit her."

"Why?"

"She's not what he wanted."

They're horrible people and they don't deserve her. I had already told Frank about Dawn, he thought so too. He hadn't met her yet, but he wanted to.

I came up to a tan house with a green lawn and flowers along the side of the driveway. I walked up the pale colored cement and up to the door. I knocked on it and waited to someone to answer. And sure enough, the door was opened within moments.

"Hello, Mrs. Iero." I greeted his mom with.

"Hello, Gerard." She replied with a smile.

"Is Frank home?" I asked.

She nodded and let me in. "Frank!" She called up the stairs. "Gerard's here!"

"Coming!" He said in a sing-a-song voice. I soon heard footsteps running down the stairs and a boy with dark, mid-length hair and torn up jeans appeared. "Hey, Gerard." He said.

"Hey, Frank." I replied as Mrs. Iero left the room. "What's up?"

"Nothing, my dad just dropped me off a bit ago, we went to the music store." He replied, running his hands through his hair. Frank's parents were divorced and had been for awhile. I lowered my gaze to the ground. "You okay?"

I looked up and met his gaze. I shrugged. "I'm really worried."

"About Dawn?" He asked, stuffing his hands in his pockets. I nodded. "I'm sorry, but isn't your mom trying to work something out?"

"Yeah, but still. They hurt her, Frank, she had bruises all over her arms from him."

He sighed. "I'm sorry."

*********

~Dawn's POV~

I pulled my blankets of me and looked at my arms, bruised and sore. Dad keeps hitting me. I'm so scared. I hate it here, I want to leave and never come back. When Gerard came the other day, he saw the bruises on my arms from dad. I miss him, I miss Patrick too.
