A few days before the gang would leave to Hogwarts, Percy, Piper, Jason, Nico, and Hazel all got their own wands with unique cores and showed them to each other.  Percy's wand's outer shell was celestial bronze. The core, he was told was made out of shavings from the ophiotaurus. It didn't say if it was the scales or the horn. Percy was worried that Bessie was hurt but, he was reassured by the letter lying by the wand that Bessie was fine. Jason was handed a wand, its outer shell made out of imperial gold and a core made of Tempest's mane.

Hazel's wand was made out of imperial gold like Jason. The core was made out of Arion's hair that Hazel personally collected.  Nico's wand was pitch black had a shell of stygian iron. The core was made from Cerberus's hair or a Thestral's heartstring. Nico really hoped it wasn't the second one, Thestrals had bad reps only because of their appearance, misconceptions, and overall the strange stigma the species carried around. They were judged because of things they can't control. Nico related, he was shunted, judged, and disliked just because he was a son of hades, and the strange stigma he had from being one.  He was also judged by something that was out of his control.

Piper's wand was made out of celestial bronze with a core of a feather from the giant doves pulling aphrodite's chariot and magical rose pedals. Piper was absolutely mortified when told this,

"In addition to an embarrassing mother, I now have a stupid core!" she ranted. "I thought that maybe this magic school would be cool, now what?" Jason put an arm around her,

"I think your wand is pretty cool." He stated honestly, Percy nodded.

"Yeah, godly parents are annoying sometimes, but at least your love spells and potions would be on point." Percy joked, Piper cast him an annoyed glance.

"I don't need them." Piper complained, "My voice is more than enough."

"At least love potions won't work on you, since your mother.." Jason added, "Which is good since your looks your know..."

"Those just cancel each other out then, stupid Aphrodite." Piper groaned resting her chin on her arms.

"But, love potions don't work on demigods since we're half god though." Nico pointed out,

"True." Hazel jutted in, "Hecate told me that spells don't work on us either. But our weapons do work on them. It's kind of strange." Percy's eyebrows raised at this,

"Aren't they mortals though?" Jason asked, curiously, "Yes, but them being able to see through the mist, getting blessed with some magic skills and slightly enhanced senses made them vulnerable."  Hazel seeing the looks of confusion on everybody's faces, elaborated.

"It means that when they get a special strength that others don't have, they also get a weakness that others don't have. Its balance, if you get something good, you also get a bad side to it." She explained. Percy's mouth formed an O and Jason nodded along with Piper.  Nico's eyebrows were raised, impressed with her.

"Wait, don't we have to get sorted though?" Percy asked,

"If we are in the seventh year, we should already be in a house." he continued. Everyone looked at Hazel in confusion.

"We're transfers, remember? We can stay in any house. It depends on our schedule for the classes." Hazel explained,

"Where do we sleep then, the black lake? I don't mind." Percy asked with a shrug. They all looked at each other before all turning to Hazel.

"The school made arrangements." She said,

"K." Jason said, "I'm excited to try out their sport, it's played in the air. My dad's domain!" Jason said excitedly,

"Well, in order to play this well, we need good brooms.." Percy said furrowing his eyebrows,

"I know just who to ask," Jason said again. Realization dawned on everyone's faces.

"I'm sure you'll do great. Just please don't get knocked out, their balls are enchanted to fly around." Piper said rolling her eyes.

"Yeah, Superman. Don't get knocked out." Percy followed with a smirk. Nico after that abruptly stood up from his spot on the floor.  He grabbed his trunk and it turned into a black backpack, he shrugged it over his shoulders.

"We should go, me and Hazel will shadow travel you guys to the train station. bye." And after that he promptly shadow traveled himself out.  After Nico's departure, everyone was just sitting in awkward silence.

"Yeah, see ya on 'Sep the first," Percy said as he stood up. Percy walked over to his trunk and touched the handles which made the trunk immediately shrunk into a backpack that was glittery pink all over with large red hearts. Percy groaned loudly.

"I guess that was Hecate's idea of a joke huh, it's even worse than that time when Iris or Fleecy gave me that rainbow "masculine accessory" bag when I journeyed to Alaska with Hazel and Frank with no memory!" Percy complained, at that moment that awkward tension was dispersed and everyone burst out laughing.  but luckily Hazel decide to spare Percy any future humiliation and between fits of laughter changed his trunk/backpack into a much more subtle color, a dark blue.

"Oh my gods, thank you so much!" Percy said engulfing Hazel in a hug.

"Hey, I hope mine isn't like that, my mom..." Piper said nervously,

"You look fine with anything, besides if your backpack is like that Hazel will turn it into something a bit more neutral. Even if that doesn't work, I'll carry your backpack for you to spare you the embarrassment." Jason said and he put an arm around Piper and kissed her on the cheek.

"That was sweet, Sparky," Piper said as she leaned her head onto Jason's shoulder.

"Bro, that was very sweet." Percy commented, "You guys should get your stuff though. Hope your backpacks aren't as bad as mine was." Percy said as he turned his head around his shoulder if to check the color of his backpack.

Jason walked up to his trunk and touched it at its two handles, the trunk morphed into a backpack the same color as Percy's.

"This color looks good on you bro." Percy had commented.  When Piper touched hers, it turned into a dark pink color that Piper thought was quite pretty even though she normally despised pink.

Hazel when she touched the two handles of her trunk ended up with a dark gold backpack that reminded Piper of the time when she, Jason, and Leo met king Minos. King Minos gave her a magical golden backpack but not soon after turned her and Leo both into golden statures. Jason rescued them in the end but it still wasn't a good memory. Just thinking of herself and Leo being turned to gold made her shivery.

The backpacks were light as if they were empty but every time they needed something, they could just take it out. The backpacks seemed to be bottomless, they never filled up and gain weight.

"I'm going to use this backpack even when outside of this adventure, I will never need a single suitcase again!" Piper said with a laugh,

"Packing for quests would be so much easier! Gods, what do you think Leo would do with this?"  she said again,

"I'm scared to find out," Jason replied with a laugh and Percy nodded.

"Well, gotta split, Frank wanted to enjoy this lovely afternoon with me," Hazel said while blushing, not making eye contact.

"Great! So bye!" Percy said getting up, Jason and the rest all got up and went their separate ways after, all wearing their backpacks/trunks.

All 5 demigods didn't know what to expect, all they were that, even if they have all these things, they will never be prepared.

Not for the unexpected, no one could do that,

Otherwise, it wouldn't be called unexpected anymore.

It would be expected.
