After my aptitude test I went home. I didn't think of waiting for Tobias because I needed to think of what to do.
I am divergent. The factions I have aptitude for is Dauntless,Abnegation and Erudite. I don't know what to do. But I hope Tobias wants to leave also.
I start making dinner because Marcus will be home soon. As I put the chicken on the counter I hear the door open then close.
"Hello Beatrice" Tobias says
"Hi Tobias. How'd your test go?" I ask
"It went well. But I have to tell you something. I'm divergent. I got Abnegation and dauntless. I don't know what to do" He says
"I am too Tobias. I think we need to leave abnegation so we won't have to deal with Marcus anymore" I say
"Really you are? Well what factions did you get?" He asks
"Dauntless, abnegation and erudite" I say
"I think we should go to dauntless. We can survive there I know we can. Plus we can't stay here. Unless you still want to get beatings" He says
"You're right we should go to dauntless" I say
I am still a little shocked that he is divergent too. And the fact we are choosing dauntless tomorrow.
Tobias starts defrosting the peas while I cook the chicken.
Once we finished making dinner Marcus came through the door.
"Eat your food and then go to your rooms and wait for me there. You both are getting lashes tonight" He says
"Yes sir" Tobias and I say at the same time
We eat in silence. I really don't want another one of his beatings but if we don't let him it will be much worse.
After we eat we go upstairs and into our rooms. We exchange a sad glance and then close our doors.
I always get my lashes first. Marcus says "Ladies first"
But it's also because he wants Tobias to hurt on the inside. Tobias loves me. He is like the father we both deserve.
"Take off your shirt" He says." This is for your own good"
I take it off and he whips me 15 times and then leaves to go to Tobias' room. I hear 20 whips. Tobias usually tries to fight back but he doesn't this time. He always got more lashes then I did. I feel really bad for him.
Once Marcus goes to his room I quietly walk to Tobias ' room. I see him on his bed laying on his stomach. I grab the first aid kit and bandage his back. He does the same for me.
"We really need to leave this place" He says
"Yeah" I say
"What's wrong" He asks
"I'm just scared about the choosing ceremony" I say
"Why? We aleady know our choice" He says
"Yeah well what if we don't get in" I say
"We will. Don't worry. Go get some sleep we have a big day tomorrow" He says
He kisses my forehead and I go to my room.
What if they find out I'm divergent or if they find Tobias?
