I hurry and strap myself in and make my way down to the road. At about 5 feet I unstrap myself and drop to the ground.
Everyone is around her. Tobias has her head in his lap.
"Tris please wake up. Please. I need you. Twins 4 life remember" He says
"Tobias it's all my fault. I found a harness that was a little torn and I meant to throw that one away but I mixed them up. I'm so sorry. I would never do this on purpose. I love her" I say
Then I realize I just confessed my love for someone I just hurt.
"Zeke I forgive you. But right now we need to get Tris to the infirmary" He says
We pick her up gently and take her back to dauntless.
The doctor takes her into a room and doesn't allow anyone to go in yet.
I feel like such a terrible person. I hurt the one I love just because of my stupidity. I don't deserve to live with what I've done. I stand up and walk away. I hear someone call my name but I keep walking. I go to the chasm.
Right when I'm about to jump off Uriah yells "Zeke no! Tris woke up! She's asking for you"
I still feel terrible, but I need to go to her.
I walk into her room and see she has gauze on her forehead. Her right leg is in a cast. She also fractered her right wrist.
"Hey" she says weakly
"Tris. I'm so sorry. This is all my fault. I was stupid and got the slightly ripped harness mixed up with an unbroken one. I'm so sorry. I understand if you hate me" I say
"Zeke I don't hate you. I except your apology. Don't blame yourself for a mistake. You think on how to do better the next time. I'm more worried about training" she says
"Oh they postpone training if an injury happens. So we will all do training together. I know this is a bad time to say this but I feel like I have to. Tris I'm in love with you" I say
She smiles and grabs my face with her left hand. She smashes her lips against mine. I feel sparks radiating over my body.
She pulls away a couple of minutes later and says "I love you too Zeke"
I smile and grab her hand. I kiss it and lay my head on the bed.
"Zeke. Do you want to lay next to me?" She asks
"Of course" I say
I slide on next to her and wrap my arm around her carefully. She lays her head on my chest and her breaths slow and become more even. I smile and kiss her head. I close my eyes and fall asleep as well.
The next morning I wake up and see her still in my arms. I look over at the side of the bed and see Tobias sleeping in a chair.
I shake him awake.
"Hey man" I say
"Hey" He says
"I'm sorry about last night. Tris forgave me but I still feel awful about it" I say
"She forgave you dude. Don't feel too bad. She will do training in a few weeks after she heals up" He says
"Did everyone leave?" I ask
"All the younger ones did. But Shauna and Chris refused to leave. I'm going to bring them in when she wakes up" He says
"Do you mind if I ask her to be my girlfriend?" I ask
"Only if you take care if her" He says
"Don't worry it won't happen again" I say
"Alright then" He says
She opens her eyes.
"Hey" she says with a bit more strength
"Hey beautiful" I say
She blushes.
"When can I leave?" She asks
"I don't know but we will ask the doctor" I say
"I will go get him" Tobias says
"Are you feeling a little better?" I ask
"A little. But my head is throbbing and my wrist and leg hurt. But other than that I'm good" she says
The doctor comes in with Tobias
"Well it looks like you seem better. Let me see the cut on your forehead" the doctor says
I get out of the bed and let the doctor look.
"It's healing nicely. But you will need a wheel chair considering you need to arms to use crutches. But your wrist should be healed in a week. The erudite healing serum is helping a lot with your recovery" He says
"When can I leave?" She asks
"After you wrist heals. So about a week" He says
"Okay thank you" she says and he leaves.
"I will bring in Chris and Shauna after you take a nap. You need your rest" Tobias says
"Okay" she says
Tobias leaves the room and so am I but she grabs my wrist.
"Will you stay with me?" She asks
"Always" I say
