Atsuko was quietly studying in the library. To keep up with her mother's standards and expectations, she had to spend at least 3 hours every day, revising extra content.

She didn't want to. She hated it. But there was no way that she could face her mother if she didn't get at least an A in all subjects.

So here Atsuko was. On a Friday night, when she should be partying with Eri, studying in the library without her headphones which had been left at home.

Her mind was glazed over with equations and numbers and quadratic functions. In fact, she was so focused in her work, that she did not notice when a certain salty beanpole sat next to her.

Tsukishima was so immersed in his music, he did not notice who he was sitting beside until they both looked up.

'Huh?'

'Oh, beanpole. WAIT. BEANPOLE.' Atsuko stood up, 'Are you stalking me? Why are you here?'

Tsukishima took out his airpods and scoffed, 'Ego, much. I'm studying, thank you very much.'

Atsuko calmed, 'Sorry. I'm just used to studying by myself.'

Tsukishima nodded and began working again. He glanced at Atsuko's work.

'Whoa. Shortie, that's third year stuff.'

Atsuko laughed nervously, 'Um, yeah. My mum... uh, she makes me study ahead.'

'That must suck.' Tsukishima said bluntly.

Atsuko giggled, 'Yeah, I guess. Hey, why are you studying on a friday night. Shouldn't you be out with your friends?'

'I prefer being by myself.' Tsukishima muttered. Atsuko smiled at him. So cute.

'Me too. Well sometimes. Eri's kinda hard to say 'no' too.'

'So... you don't have your headphones. Do... um you want one of my airpods to listen to music?' Tsukishima mumbled with a dust of pink on his cheeks.

'Oh thanks! I left mine at home.' Atsuko grinned and placed the airpod in her ear.

That was so much better. Now she could work while listening to some calmer indie songs.

HOLD UP. WAS THIS A... STUDY DATE? It classified as a study date. Holy frogs.

The same thing was going through Tsukishima's mind. Thank god they both had good poker faces.

They continued studying for a while, in content silence. Every now and again, Tsukishima would  ask for some help or their hands would brush. At 7pm the library closed. Atsuko and Tsukishima packed up their things and headed outside, where they talked under the dim glow of the streetlights. She returned the airpod with a smile.

'Thanks Tsukki. I'll text you later.' Atsuko grinned at Tsukishima who was smiling back.

'Talk later, shortie.'

As she left the library, Atsuko couldn't stop smiling. Study date, complete.
