Chapter 5 - Chills

I lose control when things get tough. That's a real deal for me and now, I don't know why Johanna is still sleeping after the operation. I have done it before and it became successful in my past Subjects. The chip that I inserted is safe and new and was in the freezer, but why is she not waking up? It's been ten hours since she's asleep and her vitals are normal. Kanina ko pa siya inaabangang magising dahil sure ako gutom na siya and hindi din siya kumain ng lunch. The operation was successful and I just wait for her to wake up. It's already seven in the evening at kanina pa ako kinakabahan kung tinanggap ba ng brain function niya ang chip na nilagay ko to process her brain activities and reactions. I've been wondering where did I go wrong on her operation at kanina ko pa binabasa ang notes ko which is tama naman lahat ng mga ginawa ko sa kanya. Maybe nakatulog lang siya talaga. The average waking time of the Subject from the operation is five hours. Five hours lagpas na siya kung tutuusin.

Inayos ko na ang notes and table ko dito sa lab. Inalis ko na din ang lab gown ko dahil may nagdoorbell sa maindoor. I know it's Siara again. I notified her about this.

Lumabas na ako ng lab at dumiretso sa main door and open the door by tapping my hand on the biometrics. Kusa naman itong bumukas at tama nga ako at si Siara ang nandito.

"Hi, Siara. Come inside." Masungit at sarkastiko niyang sabi.

"Tss. Siara..." Umiling na lang ako at pinapasok siya pero hindi muna siya pumasok at may nilingon sa labas.

"Annie? Are you done? Let's go." Aniya dito.

Wait, what? Annie's here too?

"Yeah! Coming."

Confirmed that it was Annie's voice from outside. Napailing na lang ulit ako at pinapasok na silang dalawa.

Annie's been carrying some paper bags kaya kinuha ko na ito sa kanya and kissed her. Siara then look at me.

I know it, nagsumbong na naman si Annie kay Siara tungkol sa nangyayari sa aming dalawa. I told her not to, besides it's our personal problem to be solve.

"Mabuti naman at nagpapakagentle man ka sa girlfriend mo, Alejus."

Nagsimula na siyang maglakad papuntang living room at nilapag doon ang bag niya samantalang sumunod naman kami sa kanya at bitbit ko ang paper bag.

"What's inside?" I ask her. Hindi siya umimik but just ignored me and talk to Plinth.

"Plinth, don't cook for us tonight. I got some foods and Alejus will join us for the dinner." She said.

"Copy that, Annie."

Pagkain nga ang nasa paper bag dahil naamoy ko na ang bango ng lasagna together with the smell of some coffee. Nagpunta ang nano-drones sa akin at kinuha ang lahat ng dalahin ko tsaka nilagay sa dining table. Nakaupo na si Siara sa living room while on her phone while Annie's been looking at me.

I don't wanna talk about what happened lately in front of my sister. It's too awkward for me and knowing that she already said it to her. I know magagalit na naman sa akin si Siara.

I decided to talk to Annie privately so I pulled her upstairs.

"Siara, watch the Subject on the lab. She's been monitored by Plinth. Plinth, archive all the vital signs of Subject five." I ordered them and Siara just look at me.

"Let's go."

Hinila ko paakyat si Annie and lock my room door when we got in.

Ang hirap magkaroon ng girlfriend na kagaya ni Annie, tipong gusto niya siya laging mauna. And it sucks dealing with the Subject and my relationship with her the same time.
