Once the two started talking, they didn't stop. Ever since Timothy had proposed that little women was better than Erin's beloved pride and prejudice the two hadn't stopped debating which book was better. All the way to the great hall as they were to eat their lunch they recalled every possible thing that could be compared against the two books.
"Pride and prejudice has drama, first Lydia marrying Mr. Wickham, and with Lady Catherine de Bourgh confronting Lizzie about her rumored engagement with Mr. Darcy." Erin pointed out and ate a piece of her pot pie.
"Yes, but in little women, Amy and Laurie without anyone knowing, and Beth dies," Riddle said with a smirk. "You know what, they're both great books. It's futile to compare them to each other." Erin said and Timothy nodded and the two proceeded to eat their lunch in each other's company. "Tho pride and prejudice did come out first," Erin trailed off.
"Are you insinuating that Louisa May Alcott plagiarized Jane Austen?" Timothy asked with a raised eyebrow. "What?! No!" Erin said defensively. "I'm just saying, Pride and Prejudice did come out first, and maybe just maybe, she took inspiration from that," she explained.
After lunch, the two parted ways with Erin going back to her room and do her advance readings whilst Timothy had prior commitments. Erin entered her room took out her books, laid them on her bed, and started to read and take notes. She was busy reading when her three friends entered her room looking both confused and frantic.
"Hey guys," she greeted and tilted her head to the side when she saw their expressions. "What's wrong?" she asked. The three boys looked at each other then back to the girl. "Why are you talking with Riddle? I thought you hated him? You even had bloody lunch with the git!" Draco rambled on which surprised the girl.
"Uh, I don't hate Timothy." She firstly said, "I guess we just had a bad first encounter, and we do have some things in common. Don't overreact Draco." She simply said and returned back to her readings. The three boys stood there quietly not knowing what else to say, Erin looked back up when she noticed that the three were still there. "Is there something else?" She asked and the three shook their heads no and left the girl's room.
At dinner, Erin sat with her friends but noticed that a certain boy was missing once again. She continued eating her roast. When it was time to return to the dormitories they were once again faced with the most fearsome sight. Colin Creevy was lying on the floor, petrified. "Bloody hell," Blaise whispered in shock at the sight. The professors quickly came along with Madam Pomfrey.
"Go on now, nothing to see here," Dumbledore said and made the head of each house escort their students back to their dormitories. Once they reach the dungeons professor Snape made the students gather in the common room. "Now, due to the circumstances that this school is currently in... I would advise all of you to be alert and if the circumstances allow, be with a partner. The reason for these events are still unclear... however until it is solved I expect all of you to be guarded." the professor said and left the common room.
The students started to whisper theories as to what caused it, whilst Erin was hastily going to her room with Blaise, Theo, and Draco following after her. "What are you doing?" Draco asked as the girl took out a roll of parchment and grabbed a hold of her quill. "I am going to write to my parents about what is going on here, we are not safe anymore," Erin said and started to write the letter.
Moments later she finished the letter and gave it to Ollie. "So we know that what is happening now is connected to the chamber of secrets. But the question is, who opened it?" Theodore asked as the four of them sat on the floor forming a circle. "Yeah, who is the heir of Slytherin?" Blaise asked. "Is it you Erin?" the boy added. The girl was taken aback by the question. "What?" She asked.
