The next day Erin sat with her friends during breakfast feeling famished. "What class do we have today?" Draco asked. "Double potions with third years, then study hall, and finally herbology. " Theodore answered and ate his toast. The girl just sat quietly throughout the whole breakfast period until it was time to go to potions class.
Her mind was still wondering as to where Timothy wandered off and disappeared too. As they entered the classroom she proceeded to stand by the back of the class. As they settled, the room was now filled with mostly second and third-year Slytherins and a few third-year Ravenclaws.
"Now, I have taught you before how to prepare an antidote to uncommon poisons... I expect all of you to replicate it perfectly within this hour... Begin." Snape ordered and vanished to the storage room of ingredients. The students began to gather around the tables and preparing the ingredients needed.
Erin was stationed at the furthermost table in the back of the room while her group of friends was situated in front. Draco kept looking back at her confused as to why she didn't socialize with them.
The girl couldn't quite explain as to why she felt different this morning when she woke up, she felt as if she was detached from reality. She also felt quite emotional which she thought was severely odd, it's as if she wanted to cry about the simplest of things.
The girl paid no mind to what she was feeling at the moment and tried to focus on making the potion. Some time passed and she was almost finished but something looked off, her potion was yellow in color. She retraced what she had done and added, double-checking her if she forgot an ingredient. She was browsing her notes when someone came up beside her, "You forgot Billywig sting," Timothy said.
Erin looked up at the boy with furrowed eyebrows. "I didn't," she said and went back to check her book. "You added Billywig, not Billywig sting." Timothy pointed out to the jar filled with bright blue bugs.
The girl groaned, she needed to start over once again. Timothy silently watched as Erin went to the wastebin by the door, she had to restart. As she was dumping out the contents of her cauldron professor Snape walked in and raised an eyebrow at the girl. "Starting over... Ms. Ambrosius? I must say I expected you would perfected this in your first attempt." the professor said in a monotone voice, as always.
After hearing what Snape had said, Erin felt as if she was close to crying. It didn't help when she heard a group of third-year Ravenclaw girls snickering. "She's not so perfect after all," they said. Erin went back to her station with tears starting to form up, but she took hold of emotions and reminded herself how embarrassing it would be if she is to cry during potions.
She started to redo the potion focused on not making a mistake while Timothy stood beside her and watched her every move. Her friends in front kept glancing back at her worried by the different attitude she has shown since last night. The hour was finished and all of the students had completed the task. The next hour was spent with professor Snape teaching the class the importance of the Mandrake Restorative Draught, especially with all the petrifications surrounding the school as of the moment.
After potions, Erin went back to the great hall and started to finish her essay on the history of magic. She was quietly writing down on her scroll when and arguing Blasie and Draco came to where she was sitting. "That is complete bullocks Zabini!" Draco barked and sat down in front of Erin. The girl looked up and looked at the two for a moment but immediately returned to what she was writing. The two boys continued to bicker until Erin had enough of it.
"Will the two of you shut up, please! If you didn't know this currently a study hall, a place to study! Not a place to argue if Draco has daddy issues! We all know he does!" the girl said sharply, the two boys were taken aback by her and sat there for a moment not knowing what to say. Erin rolled her eyes, gathered her things, and left the great hall stomping. Theodore was able to catch her on her way out and was also confused as to why she looked annoyed.
