Erin was currently in her room writing to her friend, Blaise Zabini who was currently in Italy for the summer. Her letter was about the holiday she had spent in the muggle world and how excited she was for the upcoming school year. Now that they were eleven years in age they will be sent to Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry.
It also contained about how she dreaded the bedroom and bathroom situation at Hogwarts. She didn't find the idea of sharing sleeping quarters with other girls appealing. She loved her personal space way too much, but she supposed it was a small price to pay for an education in the wizarding world.
Erin finished writing her letter and placed it inside an envelope. She walked down the grand staircase of her family's manor and handed the letter to one of the house-elves to be sent to Blaise.
As she passed the living room, she saw Draco sitting at one of the sofas looking bored as ever. She overheard her mother and Mrs. Malfoy's voices talking about the preparations for her and Draco's first year at Hogwarts.
"Erin there you are!" Her mother exclaimed, Draco turned himself to face where Erin was standing. His bored expression immediately turned to an excited one, he was about to stand up and walk to Erin but his mother spoke.
"Oh my, look how you've grown!" Mrs. Malfoy gushed and walked up to Erin to examine her more clearly. Erin politely smiled not quite sure what to shy, luckily her mother interjected. "Now why don't the two of you run off, me and Narcissa have plenty of more to discuss."
The two children nodded and Draco stood up and walked out of the living room with Erin. The two, headed into the library of the Ambrosius. Erin must admit that she wasn't quite fond of reading, she preferred seeing it first hand. Erin sat on the sofa and looked out the window that was facing the front part of their manor.
Draco on the other hand went to one of the many bookshelves and picked up two books. One was a beginner's guide to potions and the other one was a book Erin got from the Muggle world. "Pride and Prejudice?" Draco asked and examine the book as he sat next to Erin. The girl tried to take the book knowing Draco's aversion to muggles and anything that came from the muggle world.
"What is it about?" The boy asked, and moved the book farther away from Erin who tried to get it. "It's from the muggle world. it's about a man who has too much pride and a woman who had too much prejudice." Erin explained it was actually her favorite story. After hearing it was from the muggle world Draco looked a bit repulsed and gave the book back to Erin.
"I can never understand why you like the muggle world, those filthy mudbloods aren't interesting!" Draco explained. "Draco!" Erin exclaimed in both a warning and a surprised tone. She could never understand why they hated muggles so much. They were both humans in species. The only difference was that muggles don't have magic, but besides that, they were completely the same.
Draco looked at her a bit apologetic but stayed silent. She huffed and walked to a shelf and placed back the book. "I'm so excited to go to Hogwarts!" Draco exclaimed while browsing the book of potions. Erin nodded since she saw Draco looking at her. "What house do you think we will get sorted in?" Draco questioned. Erin made her way back to sit with him. She paused and began to think until Draco talked again.
"I bet we'll get sorted into Slytherin." Erin thought about it, her father came from Slytherin during his Hogwarts days and so was her mother "I think you'll be in sorted into Slytherin, but I'm not quite sure about me," Erin replied to Draco. His face grew into confusion, "Of course you'll be sorted into Slytherin! You speak parseltongue, you're will surely be in Slytherin!" Draco tried to convince her.
It was true, she was a parseltongue she discovered this when she was 7 whilst roaming around the grounds of their home. She saw a snake preying on a frog, she felt pity for the small frog and tried to divert the attention of the snake away from the frog, when she was successful in saving the poor frog, she was excited to tell her parents who were beyond shocked with the skill their child possessed. When the news of her being a parseltongue, questions arose around their community as to why. No one in her family was, so it was a bit bizarre that the girl suddenly discovered this power.
