"Paimon is hungry!" The fairy shouted.
"You aren't the one who's been walking all day." Lumine joked, "You float!"
Just as her companion was about to retort, she stopped in her tracks.
Hilichurls.
Those humanoid beasts were everywhere she looked, be it on an island or just outside of a village. She knew it wouldn't be long until she saw one, or even a group of them, but these ones seemed different--angrier somehow.
She tried walking backwards, but she slipped on the wet rocks.
They instantly noticed her.
"Oh no."
Grabbing her sword from her bag, she readied herself to fight, as did the monsters.
She tripped one with her leg, and then stabbed it from above.
Another attempted to hit her with a wooden club, but she stole it's stone shield and crushed it, before being shot by a different hilichurl.
"Quick, Lumine!" Paimon shouted, "There's an inn just ahead! Paimon thinks we can lose the hilichurls if we run!"
"Okay!" The girl kicked her attacker to the ground before running like her life depended on it, which it did.
