I felt my body jump into the air a little bit as the caravan that I was in hit a pothole. Cleite was sitting on my right and Dao was sitting on my left.
Curious, I asked, "So where is the next place we are going to?"
"Rida said we're going to the capital next," Cleite answered.
"The capital Shanyao?!" I exclaimed.
"Yup," Dao said.
"You really serious? You're not fooling around with me?" I asked.
"Yes and no," Cleite answered.
Dao looked over at Cleite and suggested, "Maybe if you tell her the story she would understand".
"The story?" I asked confused.
"Not the story. The story!" Dao stressed.
I turned to Cleite and gave her my confused look.
Cleite positioned herself facing me and got herself comfortable. Cheerfully she said as she clapped her hands together, "Okay kiddies! Story time!"
I rolled my eyes.
"So once upon a time, in the capital of Shanyao, lived a poor man named RIda. Rida lived on the poorer side of Shanyao and had to live begging and stealing off of others. Rida was special. He had an Angelic Mark. He had the power to transform anything! And of course he used that to his advantage when he needed to get things to survive.
"One day when he was planning to steal some bread, he happened to come across a girl with Angelic Marks around her eyes. She was sitting at a crappy-"
Dao interrupted saying, "You shouldn't say 'crappy' in a fairy tale!"
Cleite just ignored him and continued on, " Stall. She claimed she could see the future and sold her powers for a price. Rida was curious and went over to her. When they both met each other's eyes, it was like a bunch of fire works went off."
"Now you're making it sound like a love story!" Dao complained.
This time, Cleite quickly punched Dao in the face and continued, "As I was saying, they really hit it off. Together, they learned about the truth of Angelic Marks. Finding that they had a purpose in life, they set off together to find people with Angelic Marks."
I raised my hand and Cleite nodded for me to ask my question. "How does this pertain to Shanyao? besides the fact that they lived there".
Dao said angrily as he rubbed his nose, "Why can she say things but I can't?!"
Cleite replied to both of us, "Dao she raised her hand and didn't call out. Unlike a brother I know . . . And Kasai, we're getting to that part! Okay, so on their travels they met many people and found a few people with Angelic Marks. Since they needed a way to fend for themselves financially, they started to create a carnival group called 'Laylania'. They first started out in smaller towns and villages, but they eventually made it back to Shanyao.
"And one day, demons attacked Shanyao!"!
"Dun dun dun!" Dao added as a sound effect.
"So, the members of Laylania came to the kingdom's rescue! Not only did they save the kingdom, but Rida also saved the king's life! In gratitude, King Kashikoi, named Laylania the official Royal Carnival Troop!"
"So basically, whenever we go to Shanyao, we always get special treatment!" Dao said blissfully.
"Ahh so Rida is like this big shot hero?" I asked.
Cleite waggled her finger and corrected, "Not 'like'! Is! He is a big shot hero! If it wasn't for Rida, the kingdom of Shanyao would've been destroyed!"
"If he's such a big shot hero, how come I have never heard of him before now?" I shot back.
Cleite patted my head and said, "Well your little village is a bit backwards my friend!"
"Backwards?"
"Yes backwards! I bet you have never been to a hot springs before! Or tasted cuisine food! Or had a massage by professional massagists or whatever!" Cleite then stood up and pointed her finger in my face, "AND! You have never seen the Bell!"
"The Bell?" I asked.
"Yes the Bell!"
"And I should care about a Bell because?"
Cleite pressed her finger on my nose and answered, "The Bell has magical powers! Legend says it was given to the first king of Shanyao by angels!"
"Along with the message that the kingdom would be the most prosperious kingdom in the world as long as the Bell still existed there," Dao added.
"And it's true! There has been no other kingdom besides Shanyao that has reigned supreme among the other kingdoms!" Cleite exclaimed.
Mischievously I asked, "And what would happen if someone tried to break or steal the Bell?"
Cleite stage gasped and replied, "Tragedy like you've never seen it before! Building would be razed to the ground! Citizens would die! Demons would ravage the kingdom!"
"Really now?" I asked.
Cleite shrugged her shoulders, "I don't know. Besides, to even get close to the Bell, you have to be surrounded by imperial guards that are trained in like over a hundred ways to kill people!"
"Isn't that a bit too much of an over kill?" I asked,
Again, Cleite waggled her finger and replied, "Of course not! The Bell needs to be protected at all costs! I mean, how often do angels come to earth giving gifts to mankind?"
As an answer, I just pointed to my left eye.
"Besides Angelic Marks!" huffed Cleite.
I laughed and I felt that a question was nagging me on the back of my mind but I couldn't think of it. I looked out the back of the caravan and saw that my village was long gone from our sight. I breathed a sigh of relief as the scenery went by. Trees filled with green leaves passed by us and I laid down.
"So, I guess this is the start of my adventure huh?" I asked.
Laughing, Dao replied, "Everyday is an adventure with us Kasai!"
"Yeah so it will be impossible for you to get bored with us!" Cleite added.
I smiled and had the feeling that they were right.
