"Um hi . . ." I said pathetically.
I looked at Nathair and at the four snakes that were wrapped around his body like tattoos.
Nathair looked at the snake that was wrapped around his shoulders and then looked back at me and replied, "Hey".
An awkward silence then enveloped us. Breaking the silence, Dao said, "Well see ya Nathair". He then proceeded to drag me in the direction of a yellow and white stripped tent while Cleite walked behind us.
"Nathair doesn't talk much," she said.
"I can see that," I replied.
"You know his power isn't communicating to snakes," she said.
My eyes widened as I asked, "Really? Then what is his power?"
"He can communicate to any repile," Dao said quickly as he shuddered.
Cleite laughed and said, "Dao has an extreme fear of snakes and tries to avoid them at all costs".
I giggled and said, "Yeah I see".
Dao said nothing and continued to pull me forward. Once we were outside the yellow and white stripped tent he said, "Wudao!"
From inside the tent I heard a girl say, "Wait a sec!"
The girl Wudao then came out and said, "Oh it's the new girl!" She extended her hand out and said, "That fire display you did earlier was amazing! Oh I'm Wudao by the way but you already know that!"
I shook her hand and said, "I'm Kasai". After a slight pause I added, "It's nice to meet you".
Suddenly, she tackled me in a hug and said, "Yay! Another member of the Laylania family!"
I looked at Cleite and Dao for help because Wudao was hugging me tightly. They just looked at me and shrugged their shoulders.
Finally she let go and said, "Well I guess I should let you meet the other family members!" She then waved to us as Dao led me another tent that was blue and white.
I asked accusingly at Cleite and Dao, "Why didn't you help me?"
"Well her power isn't dancing! Her Angellic Mark gives her super human strength, so there wasn't much we could do to help you out," Cleite said laughing.
I gave her a look and said, "You could have at least attempted to free me!"
That just made them laugh even harder. I sighed.
"Hey Dao, Cleite!" the man in front of the blue and white tent said as we approached.
"Kasai this is Kuma! Kuma, Kasai," Dao said.
Kuma extended his left hand and I noticed that it was the arm with his mark on it, "Hello there!"
"Hi," I said.
"I hope that you adjust here quickly Kasai," he said.
I rubbed my shoulders and grimaced, "Maybe, depends on if Wudao will kill me with hugs every time I see her".
This made Kuma laugh loudly, "Yeah she sometimes forgets that she has super strength! But don't worry after a few hugs she'll stop".
"Define few?" I said with a raised eyebrow.
Kuma counted on his fingers, "Hmmm maybe five?"
"Five?!"
"Eh more or less!" he said while shaking his hand in the so-so gesture.
I sighed at the thought of being suffocated by a girl who was slightly shorter than me.
"We should probably meet other people now. Later Kuma!" Cleite said.
"See ya!" he replied as he waved us off.
As we were walking away, Dao said, "His Angellic Mark gives him strength too but weirdly, he isn't as strong as Wudao".
"He has the strength of a bear, remember Dao?" Cleite asked.
Dao's eyebrows tightened as he struggled to remember. His eyes lit up as he exclaimed, "I remember now! We were in the woods looking for firewood and we stumbled upon a bear!"
"And the bear took a look at Kuma and tackled him!" Cleite said.
"And Kuma just sparred with it like they were buddies!" Dao finished.
I looked at them confused and then glanced in the direction of the tent we were going to next. The tent was red and white and Dao said, "This is the tent I share with Tanken since we have the same performance".
"Ah," I replied.
"Hey watch this!" Dao said with an evil grin as he pulled out a knife and threw it into the tent.
I gasped and it turned into a sigh of relief when Tanken came out of the tent unhurt with the knife safely in his hand.
"God you're such a child Dao," he said annoyed.
"Hey, it was just to make sure you weren't getting rusty!" Dao said with his hands up.
Cleite cut in and said, "Tanken, this is our new member Kasai!"
"Hello," I said awkwardly.
"Hey. You're the girl who was helping that idiot to perform magic right?" Tanken asked.
"Um yea," I replied as I thought, Wow someone called Akuheki an idiot. That's a first.
He smiled and said, "Well I'm glad you're with us now!"
Dao said, "Gotta go meet one more person!" Dao and Tanken then gave each other a guy hug and Dao and Cleite led me to the last tent that was gray and white.
"Last but not least is Yan!" Dao said as he knocked loudly on a pole.
"What do you want this time Dao?" Yan said as he poked his head through the tent flap.
Dao pushed me forward and said, "Meet our new member Kasai!"
"Umm hi," I said.
Even though he couldn't see, I felt as if Yan was staring into my soul. I twitched.
"She's fine," Yan said as he disappeared into his tent.
"Well, seems that concludes our tour . . ." Dao said trailing off.
Cleite looked at me and asked, "How about we go back to my tent and make some room for you?"
"Um sure," I replied.
As we were heading back, Cleite said, "Don't feel scared about Yan. He may be blind but his Angelic Mark allows him to sense souls".
"Souls?"
"Yes, souls. That's how he was able to juggle the swords and torches without being burnt or hurt," Cleite explained.
I must have had a weird look on my face because Dao said, "According to Yan, everything has a soul. Even objects to a degree".
"Ah, and you believe him?" I asked.
Dao shrugged his shoulders and said, "I guess since it's the only reason why he can do things normally. Unless he's lying about being blind".
"I doubt he's lying," Cleite said.
Dao put his arms behind his head and said, "You never know . . ."
We finally reached Cleite's tent and Cleite said, "Later bro".
"Later sis. See ya Kasai," he said with a little salute. He then turned and walked back to his tent.
Cleite rubbed her hands together and said, "Okay let's make some room for ya!"
