Chapter 16

I woke up to having something heavy plop on top of me.

With my eyes closed I asked, "What's this heavy thing on me?"

I then felt someone punch my arm and said offended, "Who are you calling heavy?"

Opening one eye, I saw that Cleite was the person who had flopped on me. I sighed and said, "No one. Now can you get off me?" I then closed my eyes.

This time I felt Cleite flick my forehead with her fingers. "Wake up Kasai! You need to get ready for the meeting!"

Remembering what happened yesterday, I sat up and accidentally knocked heads with Cleite.

"OW!" we both exclaimed as we reeled back from each other in pain.

Holding her hand to her forehead, Cleite said, "Well I guess your awake now".

"Yeah . . . Now get off so i can get ready!" I ordered as I pointed to my door.

Cleite jumped off my bed and left my room, closing the door behind her. I rubbed my head which still was hurting from butting heads with Cleite. Literally.

I quickly went to my closet and picked out the clothes closest to me and put them on. Quickly brushing my hair, I tied my hair into a ponytail. Putting on some boots, I walked out of my room and saw that everyone was ready.

Rida, looking in my direction said, "Okay, everyone ready?"

Solemn, we all nodded. he then led us all out of the apartment and to the first floor. Going to a darker part of the palace, Rida led us down a flight of stairs.

Whispering to Dao and Cleite I asked, "Where are we going?"

"To the underground secret meeting place. Only the most top secret discussions are held there," Cleite whispered back.

"If you want you can consider this to be another 'tourist' site," Dao added.

"Aaah, I see," I replied.

Curious about what happened last night, I tapped Kuma and Wudao on the back and asked, "So who won last night?"

Wudao smiled and replied, "I did of course!"

Grinning, I asked, "So what are you gonna make him buy?"

She thought for a bit and then answered, "Hmm I've been wanting this new romance novel that's out . . ."

"And how much is it?" Kuma said while cringing.

"Ten gold," Wudao replied sweetly.

"Grrrrr . . ."

After going down a long hallway, we found ourselves in a medium sized room with a table in the middle that had a map of the kingdom on it. On the map were little figurines that probably represented different things.

Surrounding the table was the king, Prince Regius, and some generals who looked really important.

King Kashikoi looked up and said, "Ahh good you are here. Now we can start."

"Sorry we were a bit late. Some of us were heavy sleepers," Rida replied. I felt as if he was referring to me at the last part.

"Anyway, some of our scouts have been encountering an increased amount of demons in this city," the king said while pointing to a small village north of the capital called Ganran. He continued, "We have reason to believe that the demons are somehow created there and then are sent out to attack other places."

He looked at us seriously, and proclaimed, "I order you, Laylania, to go out there and find out how the demons are made, who created them, and destroy the means of making demons."
