When Loki Odinson was forced by his brother to serve time in the Avengers compound, he did not expect to be pouring tea for five year old girls and an assortment of cuddly toys.
He also didn't expect to meet the most effervescent and irresistible wo...
"You got this, Viv. You got this. You look hot, you have magic powers, and your daughter loves you. Jordan has nothing on you. You're gonna be okay and he's gonna be okay and everything is gonna be okay." Viv told herself, stepping out of her car. She was in an almost desolate area, and she could see Jordan in some black slacks and a cobalt blue dress shirt with some fancy black and white sneakers. There was something in his mouth - probably a lollipop and not a cigarette. Viv couldn't judge, she sat in her car and ate Razz Apple Magic Fun Dip before driving off. It was only two days before Ria's birthday and preparations were going smoothly. She only needed Jordan to cooperate, and then Ria would brag about her birthday party to the kids at school and they'd tell their parents and Viv would shame them. It didn't matter how young or old she was, Viv's priority after Ria's birth (aside from looking after Ria) was becoming the mother of all mothers. Or the Goddess of Mom-ing. Or the Queen of Maternity. As long as she was the best mom.
But now she was shutting her car door and ready to speak to Jordan. She was wearing a xanadu green blazer and slacks with a white collar shirt underneath and some simple white heels. Why was she so dressed up? Because she felt like if she looked better she would feel better. And as much as looks shouldn't matter, she did feel a little better.
"Jojo?" Viv hesitant asked, chewing on her bottom lip nervously. Jordan looked up from his phone and slipped it into his back pocket, pulling the lollipop out of his mouth.
"Oh come on, Viv. You know I hate that name." He grinned, and Viv giggled as she stepped closer to him, his British accent ringing in her ears. They smiled and laughed for a short while before Jordan pulled her into a hug - more like a friend than anything. But soon enough, she realised that he was clinging to her. And his shoulders started to shake, his grip strengthened slightly. Was he crying?
"Jordan?" Viv asked, and he pulled away from her, a very small trace of a tear on his cheek but nothing much.
"I'm so sorry. I am so, so sorry. I shouldn't have done what I did and there was no excuse for it. Everything I said, everything I did, I really didn't want to hurt you, I just...well I didn't know what I wanted from you - I shouldn't have wanted anything from you at all. And even now I don't want anything from you. This isn't a...a-- a whatever you wanna call what I did to you before. I just-- when you called I couldn't help but see you and I'm sorry and--"
"Hey. Hey!" Viv said, looking at him sternly. She couldn't bear it. He looked so sullen, so desperate, so pained.
"It's okay. I'm okay. And so I need you to be okay, got it? We're cool. I forgive you. I was... worried." Viv smiled, and that made his eyes widen.
"You were worried? About me? What the fu-- Viv! I was worried about you. I hurt you, why the hell are you worried? I'm so sorry for making you worry--"
"Eh, guess that's just me. I thought maybe you had come across some other girl who stepped on you or you were in financial debt, maybe you were in rehab, I don't know. You know me, I automatically assume worst. But we're okay now. We're okay with each other and whatever the fuck else you're facing, you don't have to tell me." Viv said, patting his shoulder even though Jordan was much taller than her.
"Stop getting upset, I gotta ask you something." Viv started.
"What's wrong?" Jordan asked.
"It's about my-- our daughter," Viv said, anxiously fiddling with her fingers.
"Her birthday is in two days?" Jordan guessed.
"You know?"
"I may be her none existent father but I know a couple of things about her. It doesn't matter if I haven't met her, she's biologically half me." Jordan shrugged.
"Well, uh, recently she's been interested in you. Not you because she doesn't know you, more like who her father is. She didn't tell me directly but one of her friends said that she said that she wanted to meet her dad. And I know this is sudden but if you agree, I'd like you to be a part of her surprise party. And if that goes well...maybe a part of her life." Viv shrugged, smiling at Jordan shyly.
"You're kidding, right?" Jordan asked, and Viv's smile dropped.
"I know, I know, I haven't spoken to you in a while and it's terrible of me to ask you a favour but I just thought that--"
"Yes! I am coming to this birthday party!" Jordan said.
"Wait, really? You-- you said yes?" Viv asked.
"I made a lot of mistakes. Being awful to you, neglecting you and our daughter after you told me you were pregnant. Besides, I'd love to meet little Jojo." Jordan grinned.
"What did you call her?" Viv asked.
"That's her middle name, isn't it? So it makes sense that I call her Jojo." Jordan shrugged.
"She's gonna hate you." Viv smiled.
"Yeah, I know."
