Reindeer Games

Everyone was screaming and running out of the Gala as Loki followed them. A police car was speeding towards him and he blasted it with his scepter. Loki created duplicates of himself and surrounded the mob of people who ran out of the gala.

"Kneel before me." Loki commanded as the people continued running around in panic.

"I said... KNEEL!"

Everyone slowly dropped to their knees as a small smile broke out on Loki's face, "Is this not simpler? Is this not your natural state? It's the unspoken truth of humanity, that you crave subjugation. The bright lure of freedom diminishes your life's joy in a mad scramble for power, for identity. You were made to be ruled. In the end, you will always kneel."

An old man hesitantly stood up from the crowd. "Not to men like you." He said bravely.

"There are no men like me." Loki chuckled.

"There are always men like you." The man replied.

"Look to your elder people. Let him be an example." Loki pointed his scepter at the man and blasted a beam of light at him.

Steve jumped in front of the man, the blast of light deflected off his shield and hit Loki in the chest, knocking him to the ground. Everyone scattered and fled from the scene shouting and screaming.

"You know, the last time I was in Germany and saw a man standing above everybody else, we ended up disagreeing." Steve spoke.

"The soldier. The man out of time." Loki said as he rose to his feet.

"I'm not the one who's out of time." Steve replied as the quinjet came around the corner.

"Loki, drip the weapon and stand down." Natasha's voice ordered from the speaker.

Loki fired a shot at the quinjet and it moved out of the way of the blast. Steve attacked Loki as 'Shoot to Thrill' begun to play.

"Agent Romanoff, you miss me?" Tony's voice echoed over the com. Tony flew down in his iron man suit and fired a repulser at Loki, sending him to the ground.

"Make a move reindeer games."

Loki raises his hands in surrender as Steve walked over to Tony.

"Mr. Stark." Steve said.

"Captain." Tony replied.

"He talking?" Fury asked over the quinjet radio.

"Not a word." Natasha replied.

"Just get him here, we're low on time." Fury ordered.

"I don't like it." Steve said to Tony.

"What? Rock of Ages giving up so easily?" Tony replied.

"I don't remember it being that easy. This guy packs a wallop."

"Still, you were pretty spry, for an older fellow. What's your thing? Pilates?"

"What?"

"It's like calisthenics. You might have missed a couple of things. Y' know, doing time as a Capsicle."

"Fury didn't tell me he was calling you in."

"There's a lot of things Fury doesn't tell you." Tony replied as a sudden flash of lightening and a roar of thunder rolled through the sky.

"Where the hell is this coming from?" Natasha whispered.

"What's wrong, scared of a little lightening?" Steve asked Loki.
