You begin to type out a message to Clay when Alex knocks on your door lightly. You ignore him, continuing to write to Clay. He opens the door and crack and looks in, he sees that you're crying.

"What happened, weren't you supposed to be with Kyle?"

You turn away from him, keeping your eyes on your phone.

"Get out."

"But i-"

"Leave."

He turns to leave the room, giving you one last glance before closing the door. You wait until you hear his footsteps fade to make sure he walked away. You ask Clay to call you and he answers in less than two minutes.

"What's up? It seemed like this was important"

You take a shaky breath, which you know Clay could hear. You ready yourself and start your rant.

"I... I was on a date with Kyle and I was... Clay, I brought him to my tree. I was planning to tell him I loved him. But he..."

Your voice breaks before you can finish, trying to suppress an oncoming sob.

"Hey, it's ok, take your time"

You take a deep breath, ready to continue.

"He was acting weird, a- and I asked him why. He raised his voice at me... He was really mad Clay, but i-i couldn't figure out why. He asked if I was breaking up with him. Why would he-"

You once again cut yourself off, letting yourself cry. Clay just patiently waits for you to continue, understanding he doesn't need to talk yet.

"He said that Alex saw him c-cheat on me... I just. Alex knew, he-he knew and didn't tell me..."

You sit there in silence, breathing shakily. Clay carefully begins to talk.

"Is that everything, I don't want to cut you off before you finish"

You take one final steadying breath.

"He said i-i wasn't supposed to find out"

With that, you break again, he hears your sobs and takes a moment to figure out how to respond.

"Before I say anything, I have to be transparent. Alex told me he saw Kyle cheat, but Karl and I talked to him about it, he said he was going to tell you. I had no idea he didn't. I'm sorry, I get it if you're mad at me."

It didn't surprise you that Clay knew, if Alex didn't tell you, it was impossible that he didn't tell anyone else.

"Clay, I'm not mad at you. It's not your place to tell me. Plus, you thought Alex would have told me. I'm honestly not sure who I'm more angry at, Alex or Kyle."

He takes a moment to think about this and starts again.

"I get it, they both broke your trust. But Alex had good intentions, I promise. Look, since I'm not there, I can't do much. Maybe take a bath or get some sleep. The boys are coming tomorrow, that should cheer you up."

You smile slightly at Clay's efforts to make you feel better. He was right though, there really wasn't anything he could do from across the country. A bath actually sounded really nice, you could listen to music and get your mind off things.

"Thanks Clay, and I'm sorry for dumping this on you, I know there isn't much you can do. I just didn't know who else to call."

"Don't worry about it, I'm glad you felt like you could talk to me."

You wrap yourself in a towel as you drain the tub. Clay was right, it did ease your mind a bit. The warmth of the water reminded you of Kyle at first, but you let yourself get lost in the music and forget about it. You pull on some comfy sweat pants and an old t shirt as you got ready to sleep. Like Clay said, the boys are coming tomorrow, you should try to enjoy yourself. Alex checked on you when he heard you fill the tub. You told him you were fine and would talk to him in the morning. Sure Clay said Alex did it with good intentions but that still hadn't settled properly with you. You left yourself to worry about him tomorrow.
