Emison: From the Beginning

Chapter 19: Does Spencer know?

An hour has passed and the girls are downstairs at the dinner table eating the Spaghetti and Garlic Bread Melissa and Jenna prepared for them.

Alison eats a spoonful of Spaghetti.

Alison: This is really good!

Melissa: Thanks!

Jenna: So what were you ladies up to today?

Jenna looks around at the girls and takes a sip of white wine.

Emily: We went shopping earlier.

She takes a bite of a meatball.

Melissa: What did you get?

Alison: I got my brother a bacon shirt. He really loves bacon.

Melissa: Really? My dad does to!

Alison: So I've heard.

Alison smiles at Melissa.

Spencer: I got dad the same shirt but in a different color.

Melissa: He's gonna love it.

Melissa takes a sip of her red wine.

Aria: What have you two been up to?

Jenna: Just cooking.

Aria: Sounds fun.

Melissa: It was actually.

A few long seconds pass by.

Jenna: You don't remember me, do you?

Jenna looks at Alison with an eyebrow raised.

Alison: I do remember you. Well, I didn't at first then I saw Toby earlier.

Melissa, Hanna, Emily, Aria and Spencer look at Jenna and Alison back and forth like they're watching a ping pong match.

Jenna: How's Jason doing? Is he still in Georgia?

Jenna stabs her fork into a perfectly round meatball.

Alison: Yeah. He's doing okay. My grandmother passed away a few days ago so we're going to Georgia to see him.

Jenna: Wow, I am so sorry to hear that. My condolences to your family.

Alison: Thank you.

Jenna: I haven't seen you in what, ten years? You've really grown up since the last time I saw you.

Alison: That's what everyone keeps saying!

A few seconds go by.

Melissa: So, do you guys have any boyfriends, besides Spencer?

Melissa looks around at the girls.

Hanna: What's it to you?

Melissa: Just, I don't know, curious.

Aria: I don't have a boyfriend.

Melissa looks at Alison.

Melissa: Do you have a boyfriend?

Alison: Nope.

Alison takes a sip of her orange juice and sneaks a glance at Emily who's sitting next to her. Melissa looks at Emily.

Emily: I don't either.
