Chapter 18: What about sex?

It's 5:46 pm and Hanna, Aria, Emily, Alison and Spencer are walking up the Hastings' walkway. Spencer puts her key in and unlocks the door. They all walk past the kitchen door. Jenna is in front of the sink filling a pot up with water. Melissa is making medium sixed meatballs and putting them on a frying pan.

Melissa & Jenna: Hey!

Girls: Hi!

Melissa: How are you feeling, Aria? I heard you were sick.

Aria walks in the kitchen. Emily, Hanna and Alison walk upstairs. Spencer puts her coat in the coat closet.

Aria: I'm doing a lot better. Thanks for asking!

Aria turns around and walks up the stairs.

Melissa: Spencer, dinner will be ready in about an hour.

Spencer: We'll just be upstairs.

Melissa: Alright. And mom said they will be back around two o'clock tomorrow.

Spencer: Okay.

Spencer walks back upstairs. She walks into the guest room where the rest of the girls are.

Emily: So what are we gonna do?

Spencer plops down on the light blue bean bag chair next to the TV.

Spencer: I don't know but we have an hour. Melissa said the food will be ready by then.

Aria: We could just talk. That's sometimes fun.

Aria looks around at the other girls.

Hanna: About what?

Aria shrugs her shoulders.

Aria: I don't know. Anything.

Spencer: We could talk about school...

Hanna gives Spencer a look.

Spencer: Or not.

Aria: We could talk about something a little more explicit.

Spencer: What's more explicit than school?

Hanna: Sex.

Aria: Yup.

Spencer: What about sex?

Aria: I don't know. How many of us are virgins?

Hanna: Not Spencer.

Spencer: I'm seriously the only one who's had sex?

Aria: I had sex before.

Emily: What? How come you've never told us?

Aria: I don't know. I didn't think it was a big deal.

Alison: When did you lose your virginity?

Aria: When I went to Iceland for a year.

Alison leans forward.

Alison: Was it good?

Aria starts smiling.

Aria: It was more than good. It was amazing!

Hanna: Oh my god! Really? It didn't... hurt?

Spencer: It didn't hurt when me and Toby had sex for the first time.

Aria: Yeah, it doesn't hurt. Well, it kind of hurts in the beginning but then it feels really good.
