In a clinic late at night, we could find Spider-Man getting attended by Linda Carter, also known as the Night Nurse. She was checking some sutures in the hero's back and she could honestly say that it was a horrifying sight. If she had any say on what the hero should do, she would have asked him to lay low for a couple of days before resuming his duties once more, but even she knew that he would go out and patrol the city either way.
"Who did these sutures? It looks like you were stitched up with a rusty nail" She asked as she explained the sight in front of her. She was still working on his back, she was a professional after all but even she couldn't help but admire the muscles that the hero had. He was very strong and fit and while not ridiculously strong like Hulk or Power Man, his muscles were marked enough to make her ogle at them for a bit.
"It was a jailhouse job" Spider-Man's response made Linda blink once as she continued with her work. She almost stopped working as she realized that he was in jail doing something. She hasn't heard anything, though it wasn't a surprise because she was always in the clinic. She rarely went outside, so she was mostly uncommunicated with the outside world and what happens around it.
"You were in jail?" Peter Parker, who is the one behind the mask of Spider-Man, blinked twice but didn't move at all. It was everywhere on the news right now. He would have expected, by this point in time, for everyone to know about what had happened. So it came to a surprise when the Night Nurse didn't know anything at all.
"You don't watch the news, do you?" She gave a small smile, a smile that the hero didn't see because she had to take care of the stitches on his back. Her black hair fluttered a bit with her movement, she had to be meticulous with what she was doing. And while she was finishing the stitches, she didn't want to leave anything untouched. She prided herself in being able to heal all wounds and she would do so, she studied and worked hard for being able to do so.
"Look around. Do I strike you as someone who gets out much?" Peter had to hold back a slight hiss as she still worked on his back. He had to admit that her words ran true as he remembered the clinic when he entered today. It just had the necessities that a clinic would have. Nothing more and nothing else. He would have to take her out to eat as thanks for this. Probably on later days because he knew that she would order him to relax for a few days.
"And here I thought I was the one without life" Peter tried to joke, but as soon as he finished he realized that the topic couldn't be used as a joke. Ever since the day started it has gone from bad to worse. He didn't know what else to do to solve his life problems. He moved both of his hands to his head, regretting ever saying those words to Linda. She didn't deserve said words from his mouth. "Sorry, I... I had kind of a bad day..." Linda couldn't help but give a small smile as she began to take off the gloves from her hands. She was slightly hurt by the words but even she knew that those words were said to try and make her laugh a bit. She was happy to see that he noticed quickly and apologized for it. This made Linda appreciate the hero a bit more than before. "Actually, that's not true..." Linda stopped moving and watched as Spider-Man lowered his head and hands, a depressed look on his body. She had seen many heroes in this state, but Spider-Man was the most affected one she had seen throughout her work as the Night Nurse. "I didn't have the bad day. It was everyone around me"
She heard as the hero explained without giving names the story that had happened earlier today. She didn't say anything, she just let him talk as he explained everything. She had to give a small soft smile on her face as she couldn't understand the reasonings of the people around Spider-Man's secret identity. She would think that they were ignorant to the fact that the hero sitting in the stretcher of her clinic was sacrificing more than they all were. The hero was sacrificing his private life to keep everyone safe from harm.
