Chapter 7

Val's POV

Alec and I were walking to Magnus's since Jace was kicked out of the Institute by Aldertree. Alec dragged me along after we heard the news so I wouldn't go and punch Aldertree.

"You can talk to him. I love him but even I know there may be no getting through to him." I say as we reach Magnus's door. We walked inside and I plopped on the couch next to Lucy.

"I heard you and Alec finally had your first date." Lucy said. I looked at her and smirked. "You were already planning it before I told you about the Citadel mission!"

"Maybe. Maybe not." I tell her. "I was right about the Purity Trial wasn't I?"

"Yeah. Clary went to talk to the Sisters while I stayed behind with Izzy because she didn't pass."

"What do you mean Izzy didn't pass?" I ask her. Lucy sighs and gets up from the couch and walks outside. I look at Magnus who looked just as confused as I did before I got up and went to my parabatai. "Izzy should've passed. She has no demonic impurities."

"She's been taking yin fen, so she could heal faster just so she could go on that mission. I promised her I wouldn't say anything to Alec."

"Luce, you know how addicting that shit is. You had to lock me in my room when I got hooked on it and keep your brother and mine from breaking down my door just so I could sweat it out." I tell her.

"That's why I told her about you. And why I was pushing you to break it off with Raphael."

"Luce you know I'd never let a vamp bite me. No matter how much I wanted the shakes to stop." I sighed. "I'll talk to her when we get home. And I won't tell Alec, but he deserves to know in case she takes it that far."

"Have you even told him about it for you?" She asked. I looked down at my feet. "Val it took me a week to figure out you were hooked on it. And I did what I had to so you'd get better. You and I can help Izzy. If it gets worse I'll tell Alec myself." There was a knock on the balcony door and we both turned to see Alec.

"He's not coming is he?" I question. He shook his head. "All right let's go kick some demon ass so I don't go beat the shit out of Aldertree."

Lucy says a quick goodbye to Magnus as we walk out the door and head back to the Institute without Jace. Lucy and I go into the training room and wait on Alec and Clary. We walked over to Izzy.

"Hey, Iz." I say. The younger girl sends me a smile. "Who gave you the yin fen?" I ask her. She sends a glare at Lucy. "I'm not gonna tell your brother. I still haven't told him about my little trip with it. Just tell me who gave you the yin fen preferably before Alec gets over here because he's on his way now."

"Aldertree." She muttered.

"If it gets worse I will tell him. And then I'll happily send Aldertree with his head hung down in shame back to Idris." I tell her with a smirk.

"Any idea what this is about?" Clary asked, changing the subject.

"Heard a bi storm's coming in." Alec starts.

"Always increases demonic activity." I finished for him with a small smile.

"And Jace---" Clary starts.

"Not here." Alec says quickly.

"He's totally shutting me out. He's not answering my texts. I don't understand what's going on." Clary said

Alec and I share a look. "Me neither. Come on." Alec said. We walk into the Ops center and Lucy taps my shoulder before pointing to Izzy's shaking wrist. I move to where her shaking arm is hidden halfway between my body so Alec won't see it. "What did we miss?"
