The crunch of leaves was muted by the sound of laughter echoing in the hushed forest. Two boys were sprinting across the overgrown grass, a blond with spiky hair chasing down a green-haired boy with freckles. The blond held his arm outstretched, trying to get a grasp on the other as they raced through the trees, dancing around them and jumping over logs. The green-haired boy giggling every time he barely managed to escape the grasps of the blond. The blond groaned in frustration every time his finger tips grazed the fabric of the other's shirt.

The green-haired boy slowly got low to the ground as he saw a log coming and mud, he started running faster, getting down, ready to slide under. The boy quickly got back up, starting to sprint again as he heard the blond slam into the log, grunting at the impact.

"Izuku!" the blond hollered at the boy, Izuku only turning his head with a giant smile plastered on his face. The blond huffed in frustration as he climbed over the log, continuing his hunt for his friend. The blond had lost track of Izuku, slowly getting irritated by the boy's attempts at evading him. The blond followed the footsteps left in the dirt by Izuku's heavy boots. He pursued the trail until they led into a clearing, the sound of gushing water resonated into the empty air. The blond stepped into the clearing, looking around for any signs of Izuku. He spotted the green-haired boy's bushy hair peeking over a shrub. Walking over towards the plant, the blond looked over it to find the boy leaning against a tree. Lit snores were being produced by Izuku as his chest slowly rose up and down, his eyes closed.

The blond moved around the bush, crouching in front of the sleeping green-haired boy. "Izu, wake up," the blond spoke softly, gently shaking him awake. Izuku's eyes slowly fluttered open as he yawned. When he was fully awake, he smiled softly at the worried look on the blond's face. The worried look melted away as he stared at the green-haired boy in front of him.

"Sorry Kacchan, I got tired from all the running and decided to wait for you here. I guess I fell asleep," Izuku muttered, giggling to lighten the boy's worry. The blond stood up, offering his hand to Izuku. The boy smiled, taking the blond's hand, feeling himself get pulled up by him. "Thank you!" he beamed with another soft smile towards the blond. The boy's heart swelled with pride at the praise of helping his friend.

"Anytime Izu!" the blond announced as he watched Izuku dust himself off. "We should head back before we get in trouble," the blond stated as he started following Izuku's footsteps back out of the forest with Izuku not too far behind him.

The boys trudged out of the forest, holding hands, as Izuku worried about his mother's reaction to his entire left side being caked in dried mud. The blond heard the worried muttering from Izuku, the boy squeezing his hand in reassurance making Izuku look up at him questioningly. "Don't worry, Auntie Inko won't be mad," he ensured as he sent Izuku a soft smile. The boy nodded, a smile settling on his face as his incoherent muttering settled.

The pair continue their stroll, moving on the border of the capital to avoid prying eyes. Izuku slowly started swaying their arms, giggling at the slightly annoyed look the blond had. "Kacchan, I don't wanna go back," Izuku blurted as he suddenly stopped, tightening his hold on the blond's hand. The boy looked back, pulling his hand away from Izuku's to pull the smaller boy into a hug, nuzzling his face into the boy's shoulder.

"I know, I don't either, Izu. But we have to, it's starting to get dark and we'll both get into trouble if we stay out any later," the blond muttered against Izuku's shirt, holding the green-haired boy in a tight embrace. Izuku smashed his face into the boy's shoulder, his hands gripping strongly onto the cape tied around the boy's neck. The two stood there, enjoying the embrace from one another as they dreaded the upcoming events. The castle gates fifty feet away, the servants entrance eighty. The boys always snuck out using the servants entrance in the gates to escape the grim atmosphere of the palace.
