The streets were busy again. He wouldn't mind if it meant he could just head home. It wasn't that long ago that the white squiggly things were here along with the black blobs. Some people say they're still here, but he hadn't seen any for a couple months. He had to head home via the train, so that's where he was headed. He looked to the right and saw the crowds for the bistro. He'd been meaning to try some of the food there. But not today. He continued to the station. After a couple minutes weaving through the crowds, he finally made it. He took a small pause to look around and finally at the clock.

"Well," he said to himself, "no sense in waiting for no one."

He only took three steps when he heard a strange whirling sound behind him. He turned around and saw one of the black creatures. More began rising out of the ground around it. Their yellow eyes stared at him. He slowly backed away from them, but they flattened themselves to the ground and surrounded him. They rose and were seemingly waiting for him to do something. He tried to run. He jumped over one, but he didn't jump high enough. His foot caught the creature's head and he fell on his stomach. The creatures surrounded him again and began holding him down. He struggled to get up. A pool of black opened up beneath him and his eyes widened in horror. He struggled even more. Slowly he began sinking. He tried crying out, fully knowing that his cries would not be heard. No one was outside the station.

A light flashed in his right hand and the creatures and dark pool were instantly gone. He noticed he was holding what looked like a giant key. He heard more whirling and saw more creatures several feet away. He looked from the key to the creatures and took a ready position. One of the creatures lunged at him. He swung the key and the second it hit the creature, it dissipated into nothing. Another one leapt at him and he smacked it mid flight. It, too, dissipated. A few seconds later they were all destroyed. He almost relaxed when a giant black monster rose from behind him. It had a big heart shaped hole in its chest. He backed up a couple steps before assuming another ready position. He leapt at it and began hacking at it. It leaned down and he smacked its head with the key. It reeled back and dissipated in black smoke. The key disappeared. Three people, a tall man, a mid sized man, and a woman around the height of the second man, ran up to the station right after the smoke lifted.

"Did we miss it?" Asked the tallest of them.

"I think so, Axel," said the other man, "but how were the Heartless destroyed if there's no one here who could use the keyblade?"

"Maybe somebody controlled them," the woman said, "made them disappear before we arrived."

"I don't know, Xion," Axel said, "I don't feel any darkness here. I think Roxas is right. But who destroyed them."

Roxas looked at the so far unnamed man.

"Did you destroy the Heartless?" Roxas asked him.

"Is that what they're called?" He asked.

"How did you do it?"

"I was... surrounded by them. I remember thinking I was doomed. I wanted to just fight against them. I wanted to live. Next thing I knew," he held out his hand and his key flashed into his palm, "this thing appeared and I could destroy them."

"You," Axel said, "you have a keyblade?"

"It's called a keyblade?" He asked in response.

"Is this who Master Yen Sid said to find?" Xion asked.

"Slow down," he responded, "what's a keyblade? Who is Yen Sid? What are Heartless?"

"We'll explain it on the way," Axel said, "follow us. Wait. You've heard our names, but we don't know yours."

"I... I'm Ezra," he said.

"Well, Ezra," Roxas said, "let's go talk to Yen Sid."

Yen Sid sat behind his desk. He could tell that the new wielder was found. Axel, Roxas, and Xion walked in.

"Ah," Yen Sid said, "so you have found him, then."

"Yes we have, Master," Axel said, "we were taking a break from searching Roxas and Xion's memories when we heard about monsters by the station."

"And," Yen Sid asked Roxas and Xion, "how has the progress been in finding Sora through your memories?"

Xion and Roxas exchanged a sad look.

"We've made the same amount of progress as our last report," Roxas said.

"And that progress was none," Xion said, "if Sora's out there, we won't find him in our memories."

"I see," Yen Sid said, "in that case, perhaps Riku's dreams hold the key."

"Back to the matter at hand," Axel said, "our new wielder is just outside."

"Ah, yes. Bring him in."

Ezra walked in, awestruck. He stood in front of the desk at attention.

"So you are our new wielder chosen by the keyblade."

"Uh, y-yes," Ezra stuttered, "my name is Ezra."

"Ezra. You will be taken to a place where you will be able to wield your keyblade."

Smoke puffed next to Yen Sid and Merlin appeared. Startled, Ezra jumped back and summoned his keyblade.

"Oh," Merlin said, "pardon me. Magic is unpredictable if you aren't prepared for it. Now where is our newest wielder?"

Ezra dematerialized his keyblade and stepped forward stating he was. After a brief stating he should prepare himself, they disappeared into a puff of smoke.

Well... this is late.
