Chapter 2: Squad

Kanan, Hera, and Zeb were back in the Mysterious Tower. They somewhat remembered what happened last time with Sabine. Now they were waiting on Merlin to bring in their newest members. Yen Sid was sitting behind his desk, as usual. A puff of smoke appeared next to him. It was Merlin

"Ah, good," he said, "you three are already here. We have two remarkable wielders for you to bring the worlds you're going to back from the brink."

"Thank you," Kanan said, "hopefully they can help us out."

The doors to Merlin and Yen Sid's left opened and Ezra and Sabine were standing side by side. They both walked forward.

"So," Zeb said to Sabine, "can you actually summon you keyblade now?"

Sabine held out her hand and in a flash of light she was holding her keyblade. Ezra summoned his with his hand by his side. Zeb and Hera nodded. They dematerialized their keyblades and looked at Yen Sid.

"Now that you are all together," he said, "we have a number of worlds that are still in danger of the darkness. Because two of you are still new with the keyblade, it stands to reason that you will need a vessel to get there."

"I don't think the gummi ship can fit all five of us comfortably," Kanan said.

"That is why Chip and Dale created a new gummi ship just for you."

Hera walked to a window and saw a ship that was several times larger than the gummi ship used by Sora, Donald, and Goofy.

"That's our gummi ship?" Hera asked.

"Yes. The Gummi Herald Omnidirectional Super Transport, as they called it."

"The G.H.O.S.T." Kanan said, "that will have enough room?"

"Yes. More importantly, it will provide a platform in which you can stay for weeks to months on end without needing to resupply."

Hera returned to the others. Yen Sid looked at them.

"Here we stand," he said, "ready to fight the darkness on worlds that are on the edge of falling to it. Kanan, Hera, Zeb, Sabine, and Ezra, it is up to you to save these worlds."

Wait, Sabine thought, we're BOTH going with them? No, this has to be a test of some form. A trial for both of us. Whoever does better stays with them. That's gotta be it.

They all stood at attention.

"Go now," Yen Sid said, "and may your heart be your guiding key."

They quickly bowed and left. As they descended the stairs, Kanan decided to speak with Ezra.

"So," Kanan said, "have you ever visited other worlds?"

"No," Ezra said, "I always thought that the concept of other worlds was ridiculous. Even when the Heartless and some white squiggly things started appearing, I just assumed it was a wonder of Twilight Town."

"You mean Nobodies?"

"Are those what the white things were?"

"Yes. Nobodies and Heartless are only some of the enemies that we'll be fighting."

"But what are Hearltess and Nobodies?"

They exited the Mysterious Tower and walked towards the G.H.O.S.T.

"Heartless are what result in a person giving their heart to Darkness. Nobodies are created if the person who becomes a Heartless has a strong will."

"Okay... and the keyblade is the only thing that can destroy them?"

"The keyblade releases the hearts from the Heartless and it can vanquish Nobodies."

They entered the G.H.O.S.T. and went to the cockpit. Hera sat behind the pilot seat and took the controls. The ship departed from the Mysterious Tower and flew off into a portal. All five saw the large openness of space in front of them. Hera veered the G.H.O.S.T. past many worlds. These worlds were once visited by other wielders in the past. Many minutes later they arrived at a very empty space. As they continued, everyone could feel darkness all around them, trying to smother everything. After many minutes, they came to multiple worlds that had darkness surrounding them. Hera had the ship stop.

"Five worlds," Kanan said, "where do we start?"
