"Hello there…"
The voice came out of nowhere, slicing through the peaceful quiet of Jimin's weekend morning. He flinched, startled by the sudden intrusion. It had been a typical morning for him, tending to his small rose garden with care and focus. The gentle sound of water from the hose had been the only thing filling the air, but now his solitude was interrupted.
He didn’t need to look up to know who the woman was. The click of her high heels against the pavement gave her away. As Jimin’s eyes met the red stilettos, his suspicions were confirmed—Jungkook's lover. Resisting the urge to sigh in frustration, Jimin straightened up and greeted her as politely as possible.
"Annyeong Haseyo. May I help you?" he asked, keeping his voice neutral, though his patience was wearing thin.
"I don’t need your help." Her tone was sharp, dripping with arrogance, and it immediately rubbed Jimin the wrong way.
He frowned slightly, trying to mask his irritation. "So what do you want?" He didn’t want to engage in whatever mind games she seemed to be playing, but her presence was an unwelcome disturbance to his peaceful morning.
She smirked, a smug expression on her perfectly made-up face. "Nothing, I just wanted to stop by and say hello. And… hello to you, Jimin-shi."
Jimin’s brow furrowed. What was she playing at? It was obvious she knew who he was, and her presence here wasn’t just a casual neighborly visit. The way she said his name sent a chill down his spine. It was filled with disdain, an unspoken challenge hanging in the air.
"Why?" Jimin asked bluntly, no longer caring to hide his annoyance.
"Wow, never thought my boyfriend knew someone so rude." She raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms as if she was amused by Jimin’s frustration.
At that moment, everything clicked into place. This woman was here to assert her position, to let Jimin know exactly where he stood in relation to Jungkook. She was Jungkook’s girlfriend—something Jimin already knew but had avoided thinking about. His heart sank, but he kept his expression composed.
"Alright, you did what you wanted. So, goodbye?" Jimin’s voice was firm, and he turned slightly as if to dismiss her. He wanted nothing more than for her to leave so he could return to his garden, to his peaceful world without her snide remarks and unnecessary drama.
But she wasn’t done.
"Jungkook made the right decision when he left you," she said, her voice dripping with satisfaction.
Jimin’s lips tightened. His heart clenched at her words, but he wasn’t about to let her see how much they affected him. Instead, he kept his voice calm, though his eyes betrayed the flash of pain. "So what?"
"Nothing," she replied with a smirk. "Just wanted to annoy you."
Jimin could feel the heat rising to his face, not from embarrassment, but from anger. If she wanted to play games, he could play too.
"Jungkook made a bad decision when he made you his girlfriend. He must regret it by now," Jimin shot back, his tone deceptively sweet.
The woman's expression shifted, her eyes narrowing. "What did you say?"
Jimin shrugged casually. "Nothing. Just wanted to annoy you," he echoed her words from earlier, the faintest hint of a smile tugging at his lips. Two could play at this game.
Her face twisted in anger, but she wasn’t going to give Jimin the satisfaction of seeing her lose her composure. "Your words mean nothing to me," she hissed.
"Oh yeah?" Jimin said nonchalantly. "Feel free to leave then." He waved his hand dismissively and turned back toward his roses, signaling that the conversation was over.
The woman let out an exasperated huff before turning on her heel and stalking off, her high heels clicking angrily against the pavement.
Jimin watched her go, muttering under his breath, "Crazy." He shook his head, walking back toward his garden. He had better things to do than deal with someone like her. Even though she called out his name one more time, he didn’t look back. There was no need to waste his energy on someone so irrelevant to his life.

"Where are you coming from?" Jungkook’s voice was sharp as Hana stepped back into the house. He had been awake for a while now, confused by the unlocked door and Hana's unusual absence. Hana was never an early riser, so her being out this morning didn’t sit well with him.
Hana’s response was casual, almost too casual. "Your lover’s house."
Jungkook’s blood boiled instantly. His eyes narrowed, his jaw tightening. "What the hell did you do at Jimin’s house?" His voice was low, but there was a dangerous edge to it.
Hana merely shrugged, looking utterly unbothered. "Don’t look at me like that. I didn’t do anything. I just said hello to our neighbor."
"No, you didn’t. I know you, Hana. You must have done something." His voice was laced with suspicion. He didn’t trust Hana’s intentions, especially when it came to Jimin. She had a mean streak, and he wouldn’t put it past her to try and stir up trouble.
"Oh, you know me?" she shot back, sarcasm dripping from her words. "Good to hear that."
"Don’t play games with me, Hana," Jungkook warned, his eyes darkening. "I’m telling you, don’t mess with Jimin’s life. I’m serious."
Hana rolled her eyes in frustration, crossing her arms over her chest. "I always get scolded when it comes to Jimin. Is he really that important to you?" Her voice was bitter, her frustration with the situation clear. But in her mind, it didn’t matter. Their wedding was in two weeks. Nothing—especially not Jimin—could change that.
"Let’s focus on why we’re here," Hana continued, her tone dismissive. "Do what you need to do so we can go back to the U.S. This whole thing is a waste of time."
Jungkook didn’t respond immediately. His mind was elsewhere—on Jimin, on Jae, on the life he had left behind. Coming back to Korea was supposed to be about business, about selling his shop and tying up loose ends. But the truth was, he had also come back for Jimin. He needed answers. He needed closure. Before he made the biggest decision of his life, he needed to know if there was still any chance, however small, that Jimin would take him back.
"I know what I’m doing, Kang Hana," Jungkook said firmly, but his voice was quiet.
Hana scoffed. "No, you don’t. Don’t even think about Jimin being your boyfriend again. He’s not the one for you. Cut the crap, Jeon Jungkook. Your father will remove you from the heir. You won’t get anything. In fact, they’ll disown you. This will humiliate the entire Jeon family."
Jungkook fell silent, not because he cared about her threats or the consequences she laid out, but because his thoughts were elsewhere. He didn’t care about the inheritance. He didn’t care about his family’s reputation. He had built a life for himself, and he could live independently.
But for the past year, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t forget Jimin and Jae. The rejection had hurt him deeply, but what hurt more was the idea of giving up without trying one last time.
‘I’ll do what my heart tells me,’ Jungkook thought, his resolve hardening. He wasn’t ready to walk away from Jimin. Not yet.
