The sun had barely risen when Jimin found himself standing at Jungkook’s doorstep, cradling the sleepy Jae in his arms. It was 8 in the morning, and for the last ten minutes, Jimin had been patiently waiting outside, hoping Jungkook would come to the door.
When Jungkook finally appeared, his shirt was drenched in sweat, evidence of his morning jog. He was momentarily taken aback by Jimin’s unexpected visit.
“Oh Jimin, what are you doing here?” Jungkook asked, noticing the early hour and Jimin’s apparent hurry.
“Jogging?” Jimin asked, noting the sweat-soaked shirt. The sight of Jungkook’s athletic wear and damp skin suggested he had been out for his run.
“Ah yeah. You should too. It’s good for your health, you know...” Jungkook said with a light-hearted tone.
Jimin giggled, shaking his head in response. “I’m not really into sports. Anything that makes me sweat is not my thing.”
Jungkook chuckled softly at Jimin’s reluctance. “By the way, do you need anything?”
Jungkook was curious about why Jimin had shown up at his house so early in the morning.
“Actually, I was wondering if you could take care of Jae for a few hours. Tae and Hobi have classes, and I have an interview. I’ll come to pick him up as soon as I can. I promise I’ll try my best to…” Jimin explained, his voice laced with a mix of hope and urgency.
“Ok…” Jungkook responded, his tone somewhat surprised.
“Ok?” Jimin echoed, his eyebrows lifting in disbelief.
“Yeah, I can help you with Jae,” Jungkook confirmed with a reassuring nod.
“Oh, thank you very much,” Jimin said, visibly relieved and grateful.
“Where are you going?” Jungkook asked, curious about Jimin’s plans.
“I have an interview,” Jimin replied.
“Oh, good luck!” Jungkook said warmly, his smile genuine and encouraging.
“Thank you,” Jimin said, feeling a boost of confidence from Jungkook’s kind words and sweet smile.
As Jungkook turned to head back inside, he suddenly stopped. “Hurm, I’m sweating a lot. I can’t take Jae from you right now. Come inside and put him on the couch.”
With that, Jungkook opened the door wider, inviting Jimin in. Jimin carefully carried Jae inside and gently placed him on the couch. He leaned down to kiss Jae’s forehead, whispering a soft goodbye before heading back to the door.
“Jimin!” Jungkook called out as Jimin was about to leave. He hurried back outside, holding out a fifty-dollar bill.
“What do you want me to buy?” Jimin asked, confused by the sudden offer.
“No, that’s for you,” Jungkook insisted.
“For me?” Jimin repeated, his eyebrows knitting together in confusion.
“Yeah. Use it for your interview. Maybe get some breakfast before you go. You need energy, and it’ll help you look fresh,” Jungkook explained.
“But this is too much. Besides, I still have money. I’m sorry, I can’t accept it,” Jimin protested, trying to return the money.
Jungkook could see from Jimin’s expression that he was reluctant to accept the money, despite needing it.
“Wait!” Jungkook said abruptly. He dashed back inside and returned with a plastic bag in his hand.
“Red bean bread?” Jimin asked, recognizing the contents of the bag.
“Yes. I made it myself. You should try it. I believe you’ll like it,” Jungkook said proudly.
“Thank you,” Jimin said, his shyness evident. This was the first time he had received something homemade from Jungkook, and it felt especially sweet. His smile grew, revealing his pinkish lips.
“I love when you smile. You smile with your eyes,” Jungkook complimented, making Jimin blush even more.
Jimin’s cheeks flushed as he tried to hide his embarrassment. “Hyung, you made me blush.”
Jimin cupped his cold cheeks, feeling the warmth of his blush. Jungkook’s compliment had a noticeable effect on him.
“I’m telling the truth. But Jiminie, you should go now,” Jungkook said, glancing at the time.
Jimin checked his watch and realized he was running late. “Hyung, I’ll be late!”
With a hurried thank you and a final, bright smile, Jimin dashed off, leaving Jungkook standing at the door. Jungkook watched Jimin sprint away, still grinning as he recalled Jimin’s rosy cheeks from the compliment.
“He’s adorable,” Jungkook murmured to himself, clearly charmed by Jimin’s reaction.
