oikawa and iwaizumi ate quietly on their dining table. the room was silent, only the noise of the utensils hitting the plate was the only sound in the room.

both boys were deep in thought, until iwaizumi spoke up, breaking the silence.

" you're leaving tomorrow. "

oikawa stopped eating.

" yeah " , he replied weakly before drinking water.

" so... what happens next? "

the two fell silent.

until hushed sobs came from the taller boy.

" can't... can't we just stay the same? " he looks up at his boyfriend, or whatever they are, with teary pleading eyes. " does it have to change? "

" ...you know the answer to that " , iwaizumi looked away from oikawa"s desperate expression. " we're not working out. "

" we can always try again? please? " his voice broke and so did iwaizumi's heart but he has to be strong. he has to finish this.

" please don't make this harder, oikawa. "

he wants to hug the other male so bad, to tell him and himself that it's all going to work out, that it's all going to be okay.

but he'd be lying and hurting both of them more.

oikawa hated this situation. why can't they go back to highschool where everything was fine and all they ever worried about was volleyball and having good grades for university? how did it all come down to this?

" why can't we just fix it? is it my fault? it's me isn't it? I'll change i swear! " he's bargaining at this point, and he definitely look like a loser, but he doesn't care. anything to save their relationship.

" oikawa- "

" no! i don't wanna hear it! " oikawa shouted.

it was oikawa's first time to scream angrily at him for years and iwaizumi was shocked, to say the least.

" why don't you want us to be together?! why do you keep insisting on breaking up?! what's wrong with you?! " oikawa shouted, angry tears screaming at his face.

screaming must've taken a toll on him, because after that he fell on the ground sobbing.

" i- i just want things to be okay again. we were okay right? why does it have to change? "

" oikawa, we were not okay. we were never okay since... that... happened " iwaizumi breathed heavily, he felt his eyes stinging and tears threatening to fall. " i wasn't okay. "

iwaizumi breathed in shakily.

" I'll be in my room. I'll bring you to the airport tomorrow. "

and with that, he left.

and that night, oikawa screamed his emotions out until his voice was hoarse and throat was sore.
