~Your POV:~
"Reki?! What are you doing here?" I ask."I was gonna go and drop off Phoenix's skateboard, but then I realised I don't know where she lives. Then I bumped into someone on my way here and asked if I knew ya. So wanted me to give you this." Reki says.
"Ok? What is it?" I ask.
"Dunno. Mind if I come in?" Reki asks.
"Mhm. Sure." I say, opening the door further.
My wrist was still hurting from the day before. I ignored it and took the box from Reki. We went into my house and I set the box on the countertop in my kitchen before pouring the water for my cup noodles into the cup. I left it to the side before turning to Reki.
"Oh, Reki did you want some cup noodles?" I ask.
"Nah I'm good." Reki says.
"Ok." I say.
Once the cup noodles cooked, I grabbed some chopsticks and started eating. Once I finished, I turned to the box on the counter. Both me and Reki staring at it. I opened the box and saw a letter taped to the lid. I took the letter out of the envelope and read it.
Fire Phoenix,
It has been a while, hasn't it? How is it playing out for you? You know, one of these days I shall find you. And bring you to where you belong.Did you forever the deal your parents made? You were supposed to come live with me. You were supposed to stay by my side.
This box contains what they left behind, which isn't much.
I look forward to seeing you skate again at S, Phoenix. And you will skate against me again one day.
From,
A"What did the letter say?" Reki asks.
"It was just explaining what the contents of the box is." I say, attempting to keep a monotone voice.
"Hey, what's the matter?" Reki asks.
"The stuff in the box... my mother and father left it for me." I say.
"Wait so... the other day when I... oh my... Y/N I'm so sorry." Reki says.
"It's okay. You didn't know." I say.
"So what is in the box?" Reki asks.
"I don't know." I say.
I take a peek into the box and see a few things scattered around. A couple of books. Some pictures. A video? Wait, a video? Why a video?
"Is that a video?" Reki asks.
"Yeah, I don't know what of." I say.
"Let's put it on." Reki says.
We head over to the DVD player and tv. I turn them on and put the disk into the DVD player. It was mother and father.
"Y/N, whatever you do, if he asks you to move in with him. Or he goes looking for you, don't. Please. And don't even dare skate against him. Say the same to any friends you make." Mother says.
"We were lucky enough not to get caught in it, but it is not something we want you getting involved in. Skate for fun and do not skate at S. Under any circumstances." Father says.
Then the film ends. I'm trying bad to hold back tears. My eyes becoming glassy. Reki saw and didn't know what to do. I held back my tears, as long as I possibly could before I just let them fall.
"Y/N... I..." Reki starts.
"Don't. You didn't know. It isn't your fault... they... they died a while ago..." I say.
"So... you live by yourself?" Reki asks.
"Yeah..." I say, pausing.
"Y/N..." Reki says.
"It's fine. It isn't your fault. You couldn't have known. So don't feel like it's your fault for bringing it up." I say.
"Anyway, shouldn't you be getting home? I'm sure your mother is worried." I add.
"Yeah, good point." Reki says.
"You gonna be ok?" Reki asks.
"Yeah. I'll be fine." I say.
Soon after, Reki left. I lied. I wasn't fine. I wasn't fine at all. He probably knew that. He probably saw right through me. Saw that I wasn't fine. I mean, after watching a video from your parents that passed away when you were 13 years old? Finding out the person who is after you is still looking for you?
I shook the thoughts and cleaned up my kitchen. I put the box away and threw the empty cup noodle cup in the bin. I then noticed my mask was on the countertop the whole time. Did Reki not notice it? Did Reki miss it? Or does he know? Either way, I'm planning on telling them after Langa's race with Miya. If I get the chance.
After clearing up, I bring the box and mask to my room. I place the box near my desk and got ready for bed. Today had been a long day and I need to make sure I'm well rested for tomorrow. Where I'll be running the track and seeing how Miya skates. I may not be skating against him, but it's good to know. I do believe me, Reki, Langa and Miya are going down there tomorrow. Well, I guess Miya is. I'm not sure. I've only had a brief encounter with him at the skate shop. I just know he wants to skate Langa. And me. But what's on the line?
He doesn't seem like the person who would bet money. Or something as stupid as what I've bet Shadow. It won't be something stupid like dying your hair. Or paying up a large sum. Besides, I think Miya is well-off like I am. (Rich). So money should be nothing for me. Maybe quit skating for a week? Nah, he doesn't seem the type to do that. So then what? Miya, you've really got me racking my brain over the race tomorrow evening.
Ooh~ I wonder who "A" is?? It's a mystery. You'll just have to wait and see.
