I sat down in the carriage thinking about what just happened. I assumed my father and mother went off without me so they must've been at the castle now. Though, it's dangerous to travel at night, so I got worried.
I continued reading the book that Karma gave me that I was reading earlier. All of a sudden the carriage stops. I looked up from my book and took a look outside from the window. A whole pack of thieves or I assume it to be. I look around for a weapon as I hear the pack of men beating the coach. My eyes twitched at the sight of blood from the coach. He tried gasping for air but the men kept kicking him. I looked around the carriage and checked under the seating for a hidden storage area. I checked the other seating and found a hammer, an extra wheel, and a long plank of wood.
"Why is there a piece of wood here?" I questioned. I picked it up and it was sure heavy. I picked up the hammer. I ripped my dress up to prevent myself from tripping since my dress was long.
I looked at each side of the windows and when I looked back at the window to my right and a big figure was standing there. I cover myself with the wooden plank as the window glass smashed through.
I looked for his head and aimed for it with the plank. Thunk. The man fell down and a man was on the window so I pushed back the beam causing glass to shatter above my head. A glass shard scratched my arm and I frowned at it. I quickly opened the carriage door and found a group of men running towards me. I run towards the group of men hoping the plank will knock them out.
Thunk. Thunk. Bump. Thunk.
I wiped out four of them but one last one was left. He was much taller and buff. He had a shotgun slinged around his arm. I gulped and nervousness and wondered how to avoid getting shot.
I run towards him with the beam and he aims his gun towards me and shoots it. I place the wooden plank in front of me as a duck and the bullet gets shot into the plank. I smirked a bit and I smacked the man with the plank making him fall.
As he fell the gun pointed at my head and I realized it would be too late for me to move my head. I shut my eyes as the man shot his gun.
...
I open my eyes on a bed I've been familiar with. A maid was patting my head with a wet towel. My eyes twitched and I groaned in pain.
"She's awake." The maid said getting up from my side. I look to my side to see my parents. I turned over because I didn't want them to see me in this state. I then saw my arm covered in bandages. I touched my arm to make sure my arm was still attached. I was relieved my arm was okay.
"Be more careful." My mother said rushing to my side. My father walked over to me but I already knew he was mad with the face he was wearing.
I struggle to get up but my mom places me back down from the bed.
"I'm fine. A scratch is nothing." I croaked. After a few minutes later, my parents decided to leave me alone. Now it was just me, myself, and my thoughts. The knock was upon the door and the maid checked to see who it was.
Karma came in with a stoic expression on his face. He walked to the chair that was by my side. I slightly punched my cheek.
"Idiot." He whispered. I roll my eyes and stare at the ceiling. I can feel his stare at me. I smack his face with my hand and he frowned at me, I laughed at him and calmed down.
"Can you hand me that apple?" I asked Karma, pointing to the fruit basket on the table. He got up and grabbed the apple. "I eat it in pieces. So you're going to have to cut it." I say. He sighed and looked for a knife. He found one behind the basket and started cutting it up. He sliced a piece and stabbed it with the knife as a replacement for the fork. Karma handed the knife to me and I ate it. He continued slicing the apple until there was nothing left then the core. Karma threw away the apple core and left the room waving me goodbye. I waved goodbye in response and I was here in this room for a couple more hours.
I then remembered about the book Karma had checked out for me. I flinched as I got up from my bed with a shock of pain erupting through my body. I ignored it and tried to find my parents or Karma.
After a few minutes, my legs were tired from walking and running around the palace. I leaned against the wall until I spotted Karma coming out from the library. I walk-ran to Karma and he saw me coming over to him.
"Y/N, what are you doing?" Karma exclaimed. "You're not healed yet!" He said running to me.
"The book," I gasp for air. "did you find the book in the carriage?"
"Book? What book?" Karma questioned me. "Oh, you mean that book." I nodded. He wrapped his arm around me and we walked towards a nearby bench.
I settled down and he took out the book I was looking for out of his jacket. I grabbed it but he held it in the air.
"Don't make me fall on you!" I shouted, with each gasp between the words. I stretched my arms to try to grab the book but he kept moving it around in the air making it challenging for me to retrieve it. I finally got it but then I collapsed.
I opened my eyes to see what happened and I completely landed on Karma.
"AH, I'M SO SORRY." I yelled bowing fast. Whooshh.
"Y/N?" Karma said. "Y/N!" I pop out of my day dream bubble. I look up at Karma waving his hand as my face. "What happened?" I remembered what happened and I blushed quickly. I hold the book up to my face and run.
(A/N: Broken ankle who?)
...
Later that evening, I arrived back home and saw my parents waiting at the castle entrance. I run towards them, limping, and hug them tightly.
"What happened to your ankle?" My mother worryingly asked me.
"Long story..." I mumbled. I arrived at my bedroom door and took my shoes off and flopped onto my bed.
I fell asleep exhausted.
