I looked at her. "Why is there a teen named Katrina who speaks of darkness and death?"

My mother started to laugh then. Katrina looked at her.

"Why are you laughing at your child? She asked a question. Kind of..." She said, I could tell she was replaying what I said in her head. Then she started laughing!

"What's so funny?!" I shouted, annoyed.

"I'm not a teen!! I'm not that young!!" Kat said, laughing in the middle of each sentence.

"How old are you?" I was confused.

I let them laugh. A few seconds later they had stopped.

"I am about a thousand years old. But my literal age is 1,016. So I just use a 16 year-old's body and just say I'm 16," She explained.

"Oh. Oops," I apologize, embarrassed.

"Oh, it's okay. I had meant for me to look weird and all. Plus I don't have enough money to keep up with the fashion nowadays!" Kat replied.

I stared at her.

"You're poor?" My mother asked her, with a small bit of worry on her face.

"That doesn't matter right now. First, we must get your children to safety, where's your safehouse?"

My mom stared at her awkwardly.

"You don't have a safe house? Are you crazy?!" Kat screamed at the top of her lungs.

I covered my ears. Why in the world was she so mad? What's bad about not having one?

"What's wrong with that?" I asked, putting a little bit of attitude in my tone.

"Don't get all sassy on me, princess!" She said, I was getting on her nerves apparently.

"It's not my fault no one's telling me what's going on!! Or why we all have hearts on our chests! Or what those Saldwins are!" I was losing it.

"Those? They're mystical creatures from another planet, in another galaxy. Galaxy B911E7," Katrina said.

Okay now she was showing off, because she smirked at me after I let my jaw drop a little bit.

"Stop acting like children! You're both old enough to realize we are in danger, as of Katrina's tone!" Now my mom was annoyed.

"Katrina is your full name? What's your last name?" Now I am interested.

"My first name is Katrina, last name, Brey. Anything else, Einstein?"

I growled at her surprisingly. Then looked at my mom with that face of surprise.

"Did... your daughter just growl? Like a wolf?" Katrina seemed a little freaked out.

"She isn't supposed to have her powers yet. But then again, she did stop in mid air after crashing out a window on the 5th floor of this house..." My mom said, looking at me, then looking out the window at something. "Katrina... have you been put on duty to protect the land? Because you're really bad at it... LOOK,"
