Vici and Recanna giggle, as we were lectured on rules. Eventually she stopped talking and let us go. So I walked away into the forest with Vici, Recanna, and Johnathon following me. I felt like a leader, but I knew I didn't suit the position well. The walk soon turned into a trot, then a run. John was right next to me and his heart was showing. It was the exact opposite colors as mine, a bright blue. I then realized that we were going as fast as when I had an adrenaline rush, which was fast. Everything beside us was a blur. I could make everything out though. I looked ahead and saw the cliff side and stopped, so did my brother.
"Woah." I said, peeking over the edge.
"I know..." He started.
I looked behind us and didn't see Vici and Recanna.
"Where are... they?" I asked nervously.
"Not too sure..." He said slowly.
"Mom said we had to stick together!!"
"Well, guess we've already broken one rule."
I looked at him annoyed. "We don't know where we are! I'm not dying on the first day here!"
"Me neither, let's just call Mom," Jonathan reached into his back pocket and his face got an 'Oops' expression on it.
"You forgot your phone didn't you?"
"Um, maybe."
I reached for mine and cursed under my breath. He looked at me with amusement.
"Destroyed or left at the house?"
"Left at the house."
"I'm telling Mom you cursed," He joked.
I knew he was joking but it always ticked me off when he did stuff like that. He knew that too.
"Oh, like you've never cursed in your life?"
He chuckled, but didn't answer. We looked around for familiar things and I saw a small figure in a bush.
"Bro what's that?!" I ask him and point at the same time.
I immediately get behind him, closer to the edge of the cliff. He approached with caution and I stayed in place. I looked around for a stick or something but saw only plant life. The bush rustled around and my brother tensed. He would be able to fight any small animal if it were to attack, he's been in 'Ti Quan Do' for as long as I could remember. A tiny fox jumped out and looked at him. I relaxed. Just a tiny fox, we're okay. I thought to myself. Then the fox walked towards me and sat in front of my feet.
"Hi little guy." I said calmly, I'd always been a fan of foxes.
I got a pain in my chest as the fox inches closer. I stared at my brother.
"Run." The little fox says with creepy eyes and voice. "Or... fall..." It said and pushed me just enough that I wobbled on the edge of the cliff, then fell off the cliff edge as it grew in size to be as tall as my dad was. I saw Johnathon punch it and it ran back into the woods.
"That's right, foxes are tricksters..." I said while I fell the 25 mile drop.
Might as well get comfortable, I'll be here awhile. I felt my aching chest, the heart was trying to warn me, us, that the fox was going to do this.
Brother, you hear me? I try to put in my brother's mind.
Scar?! I could hear him clearly. That's good, my mind goes long distances.
Stay calm. Get Mom and the others. This'll take about 30-45 minutes to fall then die. I'll hold on until you get back with someone. I put it in his mind.
Okay, I'll try! Good luck Scar.!! He thinks to me. Fun.
