I hope you can endure my visceral possessive heart. It will love you to death.

Lan Zhan

"Holy shit! So Cheng was telling the truth." Qing exclaims when she notices me approach the counter at her club with Wei Ying.

"For once." Wei Ying scoffs. "Hey, Shijie." He greets his sister as both of us sit next to her on the high stools.

The club certainly has evolved. It was much larger than it used to be. I liked the way its interior had modern architecture with a unique antique touch. For the increase of the crowd and being recognized as a 'trending' visit, I could say that the past few years had been productive.

So was Qing; she looked much happier than she used to be. She is someone I would've looked up to; a woman owning a club—as if how the world looked at her was the least of her concerns.

"It's an honor to have 'The Lan Wangji' in here." she playfully says. "Wonder if I could get a word on a paper—"

"Qing." Wei Ying warns.

"—Plus," she continues, ignoring it. "Where have you been for so long? This guy here was definitely missing his loverman."

"That's enough kitten." Wei Ying says with a smirk.

Qing stares at him, bewildered. "How did you—"

"Overheard one of Cheng's phone calls." Wei Ying grins. "I'm wondering if I should give the context or not."

Qing glares at him for a while, then turns to me. "Beware, Wangji. This man has proven to be dangerous."

"I know," I reply.

Wei Ying raises an eyebrow at her in a challenge.

She throws her arms up in defense. "Mental note: Don't dis his boyfriend in front of Wangji." She recites. "Oh, I almost forgot. The band wanted to talk to you." She tells Wei Ying. "I guess it's something about the studio. They're still in the dressing rooms if you want."

"Thanks. I'll meet them." Wei Ying replies. "I'll be back Lan Zhan." He tells me and leaves me with his sister and Qing, in a rather tensed silence.

Qing averts her gaze between the two of us. "I'll go take a stroll." She says as naturally as she could.

Yanli nods at her and she turns to leave.

"Welcome back," Yanli says, rather sarcastically, taking a sip from her glass.

I nod, nevertheless. "Thank you," I reply.

Yanli half-smiles. "You're something . . . No wonder he likes you."

"How has he been?" I ask her.

Yanli lets out a long sigh. "Bad? That's the simplest answer I can give, but this is Xian we're talking about."

I nod, completely understanding her words.

Wei Ying is complicated in his own beautiful way, which sometimes was his sole reason for destruction, losing himself in the chaos he created in his mind on his own. But that's something I love about him; his complexity. I enjoyed unfolding those layers, exploring new sides of him; highs and lows; a masked-up character, and the pure bare soul.

And it always left me fascinated as to how, even in the minimal detail, he always manages to be himself.

"He seems changed," I comment, recalling his cautions glances, the reserved way he held himself.
