Chapter 3

The following day they were able to get a nurse that Mrs.Yang had suggested. Eddy had insisted that Brett spend some time with Ju so she wouldn't have to see the treatment of her mom. Eddy thought it would be best as to not cause more emotional stress for the omega and child. So discreetly, Brett brought both girls out to swim as Eddy let the nurse in and led him to Hoang's bedroom. They made small chit chat before they both walked into the room.

Hoang was already knowing what was to come so he sat on the bed but had pulled off the shirt. He shot Eddy a glance before looking down. He was really thin, so thin his ribs were already protruding. He knew he didn't eat enough back in China because of all the barfing he had done and the money was tight all the time thanks to him losing his job. And he couldn't sell his cello. Not in the beginning. He had to to finance the tickets to Australia and seeing Ju smile and hear her laugh was worth it. On the torso was still faint blemishes and bruises thanks to the seat belts covering him on their travel. The omega was careful when changing so his daughter didn't see the marks but in front of Eddy and the nurse he didn't feel uncomfortable. Well, more comfortable than for Ju, true.

Eddy sat down by Hoang to give him moral support, his plan was to be with this man every step of the way. It was Brett's plan too, but or now Eddy wanted the alpha to bond with his two daughters. Thus he was here with Hoang, then he would see the girls.

The nurse smiled sweetly at Hoang, "How are you this lovely morning?"

His tone was soft and sweet, he could tell it was bad but still wanted to give Hoang pleasantries.

Hoang thought about it for a moment and then sighed, "I have constant pain in my chest as always. I have the medication for it though. I wake up in the night to cough. This night was especially hard. It went as far as me throwing up because I coughed so hard. I feel tired and exhausted all the time and I have trouble breathing. My doctor back in China said I might need an inhalator and an oxygen tank at some point. I think now is the time. But please check for yourself. And other than that I am fine."

The omega smiled up to the nurse by the end. His voice was definitely rougher than the day before, probably due to the barfing and coughing half the night. He felt bad to wake up Ju for the most part the pain was annoying yes, and he rather had the injections back like he did in China but he knew it wasn't that easy here so he would be patient. One had to make sacrifices and that was his. At least the nurse seemed to be very nice so far and having the other omega close to him helped him as well. Eddy gently took Hoang's hand, since he didn't need that for the check-up. He lightly traced the man's joints. The dragon rider felt anxious for the other omega. Hoang was probably used to this by now to an extent, but Eddy could still sense the fear radiating off of the man. The fear of being forgotten, the fear of his time being up, the fear of leaving behind everything he loved...the fear of not being enough. Or perhaps that was Eddy just projecting himself on their calm looking guest, he had a feeling it wasn't that though.

The nurse had Hoang try to take a deep breath for him. Sadly what Hoang had said was true. He could only take a shallow one before breaking into a coughing fit, making his sides ache and his ribs rattle. Yet he stayed strong and kept a smile, even when hearing he'd need to be hooked up to oxygen. He already knew that to begin with. Seeing as the nurse came prepared for this option, he prepped Hoang for it and re-prescribed him some medicine. It was a stronger dosage of what Hoang had before, hopefully it would make everything painless. Medicine could numb the body but it couldn't numb the fears or sorrows.
