Part 2

And he thought about it until it sounded as if Mei was done screaming. It took an hour or so but it had finally run silent through the house. Except for the sound of chains jostling and shaking from the force of Eddy's hits. He had a lot of steam to blow off so that was no surprise.

With Ju safely parked in front of the TV, something they rarely do, and Momo placed right beside her for safekeeping, Brett went up to look after his other girl. He knocked on the door, "Hi little girl, it's me. Can I come in?"

Yes they were little but Brett and Eddy still respected their privacy and would only come in after being invited to. Well, except for emergencies of course.

The door opened and Mei was on her bed, clutching her big unicorn. Her eyes were puffy and red and it seemed after all the screaming she just resorted to crying. Brett stepped in and went to her.

"Can I sit with you on the bed, sweetie?" Mei nodded and motioned for him to sit down. Brett did exactly that and offered her a hug. He didn't force her to endure anything. If Mei said at any time she wanted to be alone, he would give her the space. Only then his daughter would feel like a person with rights, not like someone who can be pushed around willy-nilly.

Mei exchanged the unicorn with her dad and crawled onto his lap and into the strong arms to hug him. Brett stroked her back, letting her have this moment to reassure her. This scenario has never happened before. Eddy or Brett always just needed to say 'I will bring you to your room' but never had they actually done it. So it was no surprise that Mei was a bit frazzled. But then again, it was her own behavior that put her in this situation in the first place.

"You wanna talk?"

Mei shook her head, paused and then nodded, "Why did mommy not gimme candy, daddy? Does mommy really love Ju more?"

Brett felt a headache coming up. This was really not good. If they were like this already, then how would Mei feel when there was one little person more? But he cut his thoughts off quickly. He needed to focus on Mei, not anything else.

"Why do you think so, Mei?"

"Because mommy made Ju something when she asked for it, and when I do it, I get a no and will be sent to my room. That's not fair!"

Brett placed a kiss on the forehead of his small little one and smiled gently at her while stroking over the wet cheeks, "Mei, you know as well as me that you didn't ask for it. You demanded it. Mommy told you to not demand it, but ask nicely for it."

Mei nodded and tears were running down her cheeks. Brett took out a handkerchief and wiped over her face, "You know, Ju doesn't feel good when she eats pancakes. She nicely asked for something different tomorrow. We just made her something because she didn't eat a lot of the pancakes. You, on the other hand, ate a lot."

Mei looked up at him with big eyes, "Ju doesn't feel good after pancakes?"

Brett shook his head, "No, she doesn't. And we change something in our food too when you are not feeling well when you eat something, right?" At Mei's nod the alpha continued, "So we just did that. Making something for Ju so her tummy doesn't hurt and because she asked nicely. If she demanded it like you she also wouldn't have gotten a thing. And Mei, you were really mean to mommy, you know? Mommy was very sad to have you actually put you in your room. Do you want to explain to me why you did that?"
