A Whisper of Happiness

Eddy rocked Mei carefully, humming her a Clair de Lune to help her calm down. Putting the child to bed was easily the hardest thing about parenting. He could handle fussing and finicky eating but when it got to the night, Eddy was just so exhausted. Eddy was so exhausted that he could drop dead, but he avoided that because dropping dead would be rather unpleasant. For multiple reasons, the omega wouldn't think about that for too long though. Right now he wanted to just get Mei to fall asleep.

Brett was still at rehearsal and got home very late. Before he went to see his most precious people, he showered to not stink of any stray omegas. Eddy was a bit sensitive to that still. Also he didn't want to carry any germs and possible sickness to his daughter.

He stepped into the bedroom where his lovely mate and daughter were.

"I am home," the alpha went to the pair and kissed first Eddy's forehead then his little daughter,

"Sorry that I am so late. Rehearsal didn't want to end apparently. How was your day?"

"It's okay, and my day was okay. Just baby and work so nothing too hard, only exhausting." Eddy was happy that Brett was back, now he could have a break and ditch Brett with Mei! Well he probably wouldn't do that though, because he wanted to see his mate after all.

Brett smiled. He got back to work last month, at the four month mark after Mei's birth and he felt a bit left out to be honest. He wanted to see his daughter! So he was quite eager to take her off Eddy's hands.

"Should I put her to bed? You look a bit tired," helpfully Brett held out his arms, waiting for Eddy to let go of the little gremlin.

Momo was in the bed, watching them sleepily. It was way past Mei's bedtime and Mei's bedtime was Momo's bedtime as well. They still had a cradle in the parents bedroom for emergencies but most of the time Mei slept in her room now.

"Yeah you can put her in bed. Please and thank you," Eddy gently put Mei in Brett's arms, he didn't let go of the gremlin until Brett had a good hold on her. Eddy wasn't going to risk their precious cargo, "I'm really tired."

Brett took her carefully and supported her head, double checking everything before he looked up and smiled at Eddy, "Indeed you look tired just go to bed, Eddy. I will take care of her."

He gave his omega a quick kiss before he took over sleeping duty. Thankfully he didn't have to work the next week so he could take care while Eddy could recharge. Taking care of a baby and managing work was not as easy as it sounded on paper. Of course Brett was tired after work, but he would not just push everything onto his mate. Eddy worked double time. At day and at night when the small one cried.

He hummed Clair de lune like Eddy as he went with her to the baby room. They read somewhere establishing a strict routine with known noises would help the baby to fall asleep better so they decided on Clair de lune. Most of the time it worked, but today she seemed very stubborn.

Brett sat down in the rocking chair, draping the soft blanket around her to keep her warm. The slow and continuous movements of the rocking and the calm humm lulled her to sleep. Half an hour later she was sleeping soundly in her bed and Brett left the room.

He disrobed until he was just in underwear and slipped beneath the sheets to cuddle with his omega. He assumed Eddy was already asleep.

Eddy wasn't particularly asleep but wasn't particularly awake either. He was in that weird state between both. It wasn't a pleasant thing, but when he felt his mate's presence, he almost instantly relaxed. The omega scooted as close as he could to snuggle up to his source of heat. Eddy was ready to be a leech and take all warmth from Brett, even if that wasn't very possible. He could only add to the heat by being this close.
