October 2022
Jesse and Abbey had now been married almost two years now, Jaylee had already had her first birthday and was now 15 months old, and life was still perfect for the Soffer family.
Jaylee Grace Soffer had everything she could have wanted or needed. A mother and father who loved her and each other immensely, grandparents and aunts and an uncle who saw her as much as they could as distance would allow and they constantly faced timed with the young child as much as they could.
Since Abbeys father had retired from the police force shortly before Jesse and Abbey married, and the reason that both of their daughters were in Chicago, Liam and Brooke Cooper had recently moved to Chicago, finding a house in nearby Wicker Park. Jaylee still went to daycare near the police headquarters on Maxwell Street mostly to be around other children, Abbey felt that was important for her development, but Abbeys parents often pitched in as well, keeping their granddaughter a couple days a week.
Her godmother, her aunt Leah saw her every chance she got, at least every week. And Jaylee had an additional uncle now as Aunt Leah had recently gotten married, to none other than Dr Ryan Tenney and Ryan loved his young niece just as much.
Then there was Jaylees godparents and her extended aunts and uncles from the One Chicago sets. Jason was another grandfather to her, LaRoyce, Nick, and Taylor were additional uncles and Marina and Tracy became extended aunts who spoiled her continuously.
And Patrick was a whole other story, completely. You would never know that Jaylee was not his biological niece, he loved her unconditionally and absolutely loved being around her. And she absolutely adored him.
He would practically bribe Jesse and Abbey that they desperately needed a night alone just so he could keep his niece and goddaughter overnight, as was the case tonight. Patrick knew with both Jesse and Abbeys schedules, that they needed a little push. So he made reservations for the couple at their favorite Italian restaurant Osteria Langhe.
So even though Jesse had had a long week of filming, and Abbey didn't get off till 7 after a 12 hour shift in the always hectic emergency department, Jesse picked up Abbey from the hospital where she had changed from her scrubs to a somewhat dressy outfit, and they made their 8 pm reservations.
They arrived back at their house, Jesse opening the door for Abbey.
"So that was nice," Abbey commented turning around to look at Jesse.
He smiled at her and the look he gave her, one of pure love still gave her butterflies. She had heard so many stories from her parents included that having a baby changes a couple. Some for the better, some for the worst. That sometimes the couple gets consumed in the baby and her activities that they forget about themselves and their relationship tends to suffer. This wasnt the case for Jesse and Abbey. If anything, the birth of Jaylee only intensified their love. Everytime they looked at their daughter, it was a reminder of the love they shared in order to produce her. And their love life had not suffered. Sure, it was different with a child around, especially one that was quite on the go, as Jaylee currently was, but they made it work.
"Hey you ok?" Jesse asked breaking Abbey out of her trance
She smiled lovingly at him, reaching up to plant a quick but yet loving kiss on his lips, allowing her hand to rest on his chest.
"Yeah, I'll be right back. Just going to change"
He smiled back at her, nodding, watching her make her way up the stairs.
A few minutes later, Jesse was sitting on the couch, flipping through the channels when Abbey made her way back down the stairs. He looked up at her
"You went into the nursery to check on her didn't you?"
A guilty expression arose on Abbeys face as she sat beside him.
"Its such a habit. Oh God, I've become that Mom."
Jesse just smiled and laughed at her, holding up his phone.
"Its ok. I may or may not have totally looked into the monitor app to look at her and she's not there"
She smiled back laughing at her husband.
"You know, it is really nice that Paddy does this for us. Makes us have a nice night to ourselves"
"Oh don't fool yourself baby. Paddy does that for himself. It forces us to have a night to ourselves which in turn gives him the night to keep Jaylee which means she will come back completely hyped up off on chocolate and sugar."
"Well I was thinking we might as well make the most of our night alone." Abbey said in a seductive voice crawling towards Jesse and reaching up to kiss him.
"Mmm. I like the way you think." Jesse responded, wrapping his arms around her back, returning the kiss.
"I love you," he murmured against her lips.
"I love you too, Jess, so much", Abbey was now straddled on Jesse's lap, her arms around his neck, his hands resting on her hips going up her sides.
"Baby" he murmured as he trailed soft kisses down her head.
"Yeah?"
"No. I want another baby"
She suddenly froze and looked Jesse right in the eye.
"Oh God. Please tell me I didn't just kill the mood" he said.
She shook her head smiling, "No. Are you sure?"
"Oh yeah. I know we've said we needed to wait awhile but Jaylee's 15 months now. She'll be 2 by the time another baby comes. "
Abbey smiled brightly nodding her head.
"Okay"
"Really? Like ok, let's do this"
She laughed softly at her husband and nodded.
"Yeah like okay let's do this. Lets have another baby."
Jesse wasted no time. He pulled her back into him, taking off each other's shirts in the process. He secured her legs around his waist, lifting himself off the couch, carrying her upstairs. They wasted no time getting to their bedroom and most specifically their bed. They would make the very most out of their night alone.
