"Meg, wake up! There's a package for you!" I heard Jimmy yell, and I groggily woke up. Nancy had gone grocery shopping and had taken Winnie with her, so I was alone with Jimmy. I rolled out of bed and slumped onto the floor, and I grabbed my slippers and put them on. I snatched an old NYU Volleyball sweatshirt off of my bed, and I put it on and headed downstairs.
I saw a HUGE package sitting on the kitchen table, along with a cup of fresh hot chocolate. I looked up to see Jimmy sitting at the table across from me, smiling widely. "Well then, open it!" I smiled and said as I began to open it, "You didn't have to make me hot chocolate. Thank you." I cut the box open with a pair of scissors, and I opened it.
In the box there were tons of Team USA Volleyball things. There had to be at least 20 items in there. I began taking things out, and I saw a new volleyball bag, three sets of jerseys and spandex shorts, two sweatshirts, three pairs of sweatpants, a full zip fleece top, like 5 tee shirts, 3 pairs of shorts, and last but not least, a pair of custom Nike Team USA Volleyball sneakers.
"Holy crap." I said as I grabbed the jerseys to look at them closer. I was number 5, and my last name was on each jersey. Jimmy began looking through all of the apparel, and I smiled. "Wait!" I exclaimed, and I ran back up to my room. I grabbed my NYU Volleyball bag and ran back downstairs. I saw Jimmy still looking through all of the things, and I grabbed my new Team USA bag and began transferring things into that from my old bag.

I walked through the offices as we got ready to tape a segment with the Roots. It was uncharacteristically quiet, and I didn't really mind. I was wearing a pair of Express jeans with black flats, a nice subtle green v-neck from Victoria's Secret, and a grey cardigan from Express. I saw that the lights were off in the studio, so I opened the door and walked over to the light panel. I flicked on the lights, and suddenly turned around to hear everyone scream, "SURPRISE!"
I covered my mouth in shock as Lorne Michaels walked over to me. "Congrats, Megan. You really deserve to be on the National Team." I couldn't believe that they had done this for me- there was a cake, and I looked around and saw everyone- except Jimmy.
I frowned and turned to Lorne. "Where's Jimmy?" Lorne replied calmly and said, "He's in his office working on something. He wasn't able to come down." Miles and Lorne began talking, and I zoned out. This wasn't like Jimmy. I snuck out of the studio and quietly made my way to his office. I knocked on the door, but it opened slowly. I found a note on the floor that was adressed to me.
Meg,
You honestly don't think that I wouldn't be down there, do you? I wouldn't miss it for the world. I just needed a diversion so that we could get something in the studio for a little fun. Go back downstairs, ya stinker.I smiled and laughed as I folded up the note and tucked it in my pocket. I made my way back down to the studio- nothing had changed. John Haskell began talking to me, and I saw Jimmy out of the corner of my eye...
Wearing a bubble soccer suit.
I immediately smiled as Jimmy struggle to make his way over to me. He finally got to me and said, "I'll hug you afterwards. There are other suits backstage- you pick 3 people, and I pick 3. Me versus you." I laughed and said, "It's on, James."
Jimmy picked Miles, Questlove, and Higgins- no surprise there. I ended up choosing John Haskell, Frank Knuckles, and Tariq. I was pretty tight with the Roots, and they always hung out with Jimmy and I and joked around with us. We all put our bubbles on, and the lower stage was cleared so that we could play bubble soccer.

"What a fun day." Jimmy said as we got into his truck. "Yeah, definitely." I said. He looked at me and said, "Meg, what's wrong?" I looked up at him and replied, "I'm gonna be traveling so much now. I'm gonna be all over the world. It's just... I'm gonna miss you and Nance and Win, and everyone at the show... And will I still have a job here when I come back?" Jimmy began driving us home as he talked to me.
"Lorne and I already talked it out. You're just going on a hiatus or a break, and you'll still have a job. Nancy, Winnie and I are gonna try and come to some matches if we can." I smiled as Jimmy said, "Don't worry about anything Meg. Just have fun."
Jimmy always knew how to get me to relax and smile. I heard one of my favorite songs come on the radio, and I turned it up and smiled widely. Jimmy looked at me and laughed as I began singing along to Mr. Roboto. I began to do some of the dance moves that he had done in his lipsync, and he laughed harder. Jimmy and I began singing along as we drove home, and I smiled.
It was moments like this that made me realize how lucky I was to have Jimmy Fallon as a brother.
