30 Rockefeller Center was bustling with people as I made my way to the sixth floor to Studio 6B. It was a cold Monday morning, and I was gripping my Starbucks coffee cup tightly as I entered the studio. I was greeted by Steve Higgins, and we walked into the main studio together. "So, what exactly is my job?" I asked him, laughing. He replied, "Well, Lorne saw your writing and producing skills and your work from some of the SNL episodes they let you help in, and he wants to add you to the team of writers and make you a producer, too- but producing will come in time. Right now just concentrate on writing."
I couldn't believe my ears. I was joining the team of writers for the Tonight Show... Holy crap. Higgins told me where to go to find the writer's room, and I entered to see some writers who I was familiar with. The most familiar to me was the head writer Patrick, who Jimmy had taken from Late Night to the Tonight Show. I sat down next to Patrick, and he introduced me to everyone. Today should be a fun day...
"So we're doing Pros and Cons, Beer Hockey, and Freestylin' with the Roots?" Jimmy asked in affirmation, and Patrick nodded. I was sitting between Jimmy and Patrick as the crew talked about everything for the show. The meeting ended, and Jimmy went to go talk to Lorne, the Executive Producer. Patrick grabbed me and asked me to help him with one of the sketches, and we began brainstorming for Pros and Cons.

It was around 10:30pm, and we had finally finished everything for next week's episodes. I was passed out on the couch in the writer's lounge, and I was gently nudged awake by Jimmy. I groaned and rolled over, exhausted from running all over the studio and brainstorming skits with Patrick all day. "Hey pal, wake up... We've gotta go." My eyes pryed open, and I saw Jimmy looking at me with bags under his eyes. I could tell he was tired, too. "Sorry..." I said quietly as he helped me up. I grabbed my purse and my jacket, and he smiled exhaustedly and replied, "It's okay, everyone falls asleep during the day every once in a while." Jimmy and I left Rockefeller Plaza and began driving back to Jimmy's house.
"So how was your first day?" He asked me, and I smiled. "I love it so much." I replied. Jimmy smiled widely and said, "Good, I'm glad." He pat my shoulder lightly as he took an exit off of the highway. We arrived at his house around 15 minutes later, and we walked inside exhaustedly. Jimmy bade me goodnight as he headed upstairs, and I ended up crashing on the couch in the living room.

"Morning sunshine!" Jimmy yelled in my face, and I groaned loudly. "Meg, get up." He said seriously, and I groaned again. Suddenly, I felt Jimmy pick me up and carry me to the kitchen, and he sat me down in a seat across from him. "Why..." I said quietly, and Jimmy smirked. "Can't be late for work!" I sighed in defeat as I ate my breakfast- over easy eggs with bacon and sausage. I went upstairs and grabbed a pair of light wash jeans from Urban Outfitters, a long sleeve, red V-neck shirt from Hollister, undergarments, and socks along with a pair of sweater Uggs. I went into the bathroom and took a warm shower, and I got ready for the day.
"Megan, can you give this to Higgins?" Patrick asked me, and I nodded. I walked down the hall to Steve Higgins' office, and I knocked on his door. "Come in." He chimed, and I opened the door. "Patrick wanted me to give this to you." I said, handing him an envelope. Higgins thanked me as I left.
Not even 5 minutes later, Higgins came to get me from the writer's lounge. "Megan, Jimmy wants to see you."
Oh boy.
