This next pt is a flashback to the morning of the accident that landed the Storm God's human in the hospital. Just so you don't get confused...

I woke up that morning to go to work, having slept through my alarm & rushed to get dressed & out my apartment door. I hoped I wouldn't be late...

The rain was beating down on the sidewalk hard, & I hurried across the street, forgetting to bring my umbrella in the rush out the door. The sunlight was blocked out by the water & fog, making it hard to see & be aware of my surroundings, what with the rain constantly getting in my eyes.

It was in this rush to get across the street that I didn't see the car at the other end. That I noticed too late that it was rushing toward me. & it hit me.

As I lay on the sidewalk immobilized, & the driver called the ambulance, I felt my breath grow shallow. My ribs hurt & I struggled to get enough air, & it was in that moment that I hoped... prayed... that I would be ok. As I stared up at the rainclouds, I hoped this would not be how I died...

. . .

I wake up the next morning in the hospital. I turn to my right, seeing the soft morning light filtering in from a window near the hospital bed. I try to sit up, but feeling a sharp pain in my side, lay back down suddenly.

"You might not want to do that... You sustained a serious injury to your ribs & it might take some time to heal." I hear someone say & I turn to my left slightly, where a handsome man about my age with long silver hair, medium skin & dark brown eyes sits in a nicely tailored suit. I open my mouth slowly, then close it again. "Water?" He asks, gently handing me a paper cup & I take it gratefully, sipping slowly & easing my sore throat.

"Th-thank you," I say at last, eyes downcast, then looking up at him slowly, hating how I feel my face heat.

"No problem." He smiles kindly & waves his hands dismissively. As if it were an everyday occurrence to help a stranger get to a hospital in time. He takes my cup gently when I finish, setting it on the bedside table with a smile & I turn to him.

"So... why are you here?" I ask reluctantly, not wanting to prod, strangely enjoying this man's company.

"Oh... I was at the cross-walk as well, on the other side, when the accident occurred... &... I figured I might as well help if I could... Especially since you were hit so critically..." He frowns slightly, looking at the white tiled floor.

My eyebrows furrow. "Oh... ok... I didn't see anyone on the other side... but it was raining pretty hard... I'm Dakota, by the way."

He smiles softly & shakes my hand, & I blush. His hands are so soft & warm. "I know..." He says hesitantly, & I raise one eyebrow in his direction. "I had to sign for some of your bills..."

My mouth opens wide. "You did what?! Did you pay for my hospital bills?!"

He nods, frowning. "Yeah, sorry... I didn't want to have to leave you paying these all by yourself & all... Especially in the state you were in..."

I shake my head fervently. "Yeah... But you should have asked me... & I don't know how you can afford that..."

He frowns, eyes sad. "I'm sorry. I didn't want to worry you. I know I should've asked, but... I didn't want you to be even more burdened than you were..."

I tilt my head questioningly. "Thank you but... How are you going to pay for that? I could refund you later..."

He shakes his head vigorously, waving his hands dismissively. "No, no, it's ok. I can afford it..."

I frown slightly. "O-ok. Thank you, ....?"

He nods in my direction. "Rain."

I raise my eyebrows in surprise & shake his hand again. "That's an interesting name."

He smiles sheepishly, face reddening slightly. "Thank- thank you."

If I needed to clarify, this is the Storm God's human meeting him. What do you guys think? I know this is a weird place to end, but I've always been bad at sectioning off chapters, so... Anyways, see ya guys later. Byeeeeeee :'D
