Flashback:

The bed was empty when Akari woke up. She looked around. He wasn't next to her anymore.
Akari put a blanket on her shoulders and walked outside barefoot.
"Naruto?"
She found him sitting on the porch. It was gently snowing. The winter had frozen the trees in the garden. He looked at her. Her thin body was softly shivering. Her confused face, messy hair and plump lips made him smile. He was grateful to have her.
"Good morning."
"What are you doing here?"
She sat next to him. Naruto placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. "What's that about?" She blushed.
He didn't respond. The snow was slowly falling on the grass.
"Did anything happen?" She asked.
He gripped the red fabric in his palm.
"It's just.." he tried to smile. "I lost Hinata on this day."
"Oh..." she whispered.
"I'm sorry. It must've felt confusing for you.. I didn't mean to.."
she placed her hand on the piece of red scarf.
"Naruto... why don't you tell me stories about Hinata?" Her eyes looked so warm for him.
"Really?"
She nodded. Naruto wrapped his arms around her. Akari placed her thin fingers on his cheeks. She loved holding him this close. "Okay." He whispered and buried his face in her hair. "Thank you.." she felt his tears soaking her brown hair.
"It's okay, Naruto.. " Akari kept him closer to her warm body. "It's not your fault."

[Present time:]

"I'm here to apologize!" Akari fell on her knees in front of Hyuga mansion. Hanabi was confused.
"Lady Hokage, what are you doing?" She whispered.
People stopped walking. Everyone was staring at her.

"What is she doing?" Asked one lady to her friend.
"A Hokage is apologizing?"
"I bet she was the one who killed that poor Hyuga girl who was engaged to Lord Seventh. Everyone knows she wanted him for herself!" A man hissed at Akari. She tried so hard not to cry.
"How dare you say that?!" A guy pushed him.
"Would you really fight me for an outsider?!"

"Please stop." Akari asked them, still on her knees.
"She's still our Hokage!"
More people gathered around them.
"The Otsutsuki are enemies! She doesn't belong here!"
"I won't let you speak about her this way!" The guy punched him in Akari's defense. She rushed over.
"Stop it! Both of you!" She pushed both of them aside, accidentally hurting a man's arm in the process.
"You, devil!" He yelled out.
"Oh, no! I'm sorry." Akari was so ashamed she wanted to disappear. Those eyes... they were all looking at her with those eyes she feared the most.
"The Hokage has turned on her own people, what a shame!" Yelled an old lady from the crowd.
"I'm sorry, I never meant to hurt him!" She rushed over to the injured man. "Let me heal it."
"No, stay away from me!"
"I won't hurt you.."
"No, don't touch me!" He pushed her away.
"Let me heal your arm or I'll break both of them!" She whispered with her eyes glowing. The man surrendered. She sighed and placed a hand on his arm. "I'm sorry... I didn't mean to hurt you." She said quietly so only the man could hear it. "But I didn't want anyone to fight over me either. It doesn't matter how you see me. I'll still care the same for everyone." She smiled as she completely healed his arm. He gasped.
Her image completely changed in his eyes. Her hand on his arm felt warm and comforting.

"What's all the fuss about?!" The head of Hyuga clan opened the gate.
"Lord Hiashi, I wanted to talk to you!" Akari stood up.
"Please, come inside, Lady Hokage."

"Quite a troublemaker, aren't you?" Hiashi smiled. Akari let her head down. "What was it you wanted to talk about?"
Seeing him smile like that made her heart ache. She looked around, like she was looking for a hope, a way to avoid the truth. There was none.
She dropped on her knees.
"I wanted to apologize for the death of your daughter!"
Hanabi gasped.
"What...Did you kill my sister?!"
Hiashi blocked her way.
"Explain this, Lady Hokage."
"I just learned the truth.." Akari's heart was beating faster by every second. "It was a mistake.. just a stupid mistake..."
"What do you mean by that?!" Hanabis voice got shaky. Hiashi stopped her.
"It was supposed to be me.." Akari burst out crying. "Hinata wasn't the one they wanted to kill that night. It was me. I've been chased by them all my life. My parents did everything to keep me hidden, but they never stopped looking." She scratched the floor with her nails, crying her heart out. "They found out about my feelings for Naruto and mistook me for Hinata. Your daughter died because of me!"
Hanabi burst out crying. Hiashi looked away.
"I'm so sorry, Lord Hiashi. I take full responsibility for this matter. Do as you must."
At this point she was ready to take any punishment. The guilt made it too hard for her to breathe. The guilt of making her mom sacrifice herself, the guilt of blaming her father for it. She even hurt the two men she loved the most and failed protecting them at the last moment. Finding the truth about Hinata's death nearly crushed Akari.
Hiashi looked down on her.
"Did you see it happen?"
"No."
"Did you want it to happen?"
